Sometimes we don't even realize how important a good lens mount ring is especially with longer zoom lenses. This item is a good choice. Easy to use, strong enough, durable. Although this time I had to return it (my mistake: ordered wrong size) I'm already in the process of buying another one. Shipping was fast. Also, I must emphasize that Amazon's return/refund practice is flawless. Couldn't be easier, faster, more efficient. Thank you.

... but all is not lost.First off, despite the listing describing this as being manufactured by 'Hersmay', a company that is new to me, on receipt I find that it is my by JLWin from whom I have ordered products before and been very happy with them, this is no exception.I was going to surprise my son with this but it seems he no longer has the lens which left me in a quandary, undeterred I headed upstairs with a tape measure and micrometer and found that I have several old Soviet Medium Format lenses that this fits perfectly so all is not lost.Fit and finish are both A+ which is to be expected and the collar easily holds the camera, a Kiev 60, lens and a small cage when placed on a tripod.I'm not sure what material has been used to line the inner surface of the ring but it is incredibly grippy whilst being super soft so as not to damage the lens.I have no doubt on the correct lens this would be perfect and I don't advocate using it the way I am, the weight of my camera and lenses combined is somewhat greater than any modern kit so, whilst all seems well, I will be monitoring this carefully as it may prove too much, but for now I'm more than happy with this.

I had no trouble attaching the Hersmay Lens Collar to my Z 180-600mm lens – it simple to release the screw on the collar, strapping the collar around the lens and then tightening the screw. The one major improvements with the Hersmay collar over the original is the QR plate integrated in to the footplate. There is no need to attach a separate QR plate to use the lens with a tripod. I have a few different tripods and the integrated QR plate worked fine with each. There are some very minor differences with the original collar that comes with the lens:A) This collar is about 1/4-inch shorter than the original. Normally carry the lens and camera combination by the foot plate on the collar, and there is slightly less room to grasp the foot plate on the Hermay collar.B) The original collar has a slightly raised-inward edge on the back of the collar, that makes it easy to position the collar on the lens. However, even without this raised edge, the Hersmay collar is still very easy to position on the lens.C) The Hersmay collar has grippy material on the inside of the collar, well the original collar has smooth plastic material. This makes very little difference except I did need to loosen the screw a hair more on the Hersmay collar to rotate the lens between landscape and portrait orientation.D) the Hersmay collar includes a number of 3/8-inch and 1/4-inch threaded holes spread throughout the footplate that provides different options for attaching brackets, QR plates or other mechanisms that come with 3/8-inch or 1/4-inch screw.Overall, this is a nice, solidly constructed collar at a good price that is well-suited for use with a tripod.

The Hersmay 80mm Metal Lens Collar Tripod Mount Ring is a solid, well-built accessory for the NIKKOR Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR lens. Right out of the box, you can tell the metal construction adds a good amount of durability and stability, which is crucial for a heavier telephoto lens. It fits the lens snugly without any wobbling, and the locking mechanism is smooth and secure. When mounted on a tripod, the collar greatly improves balance, reducing strain on the camera mount. It also allows for easy rotation, which makes switching between landscape and portrait orientation seamless. This is especially useful for wildlife and sports photographers. However, there are a couple of downsides. The fit is quite tight, which is good for stability, but getting it onto the lens takes some effort. Also, it feels a bit heavier than expected, though that's a trade-off for the sturdiness.Overall, it’s a well-designed, functional piece of gear that’s worth the investment if you frequently use the NIKKOR Z 180-600mm. It delivers exactly what it promises, though some users may find the installation a bit fiddly at first.
