The product is surprisingly good and in some ways even surpassed my expectations. It's slick, has lots of programmable functionalities, and is generally easy to use in most ways.But here is also where it stops for me sadly: While I do think the product is actually really good, and I do not regret buying it at all and think the price asked for it is absolutely reasonable, there are a few things that just aren't as good as they could be in the "Pro" version of the product, something I hope they maybe fix with the RM5 series.The first of the problems is the very glaring one that serves as the title for this review: The RF antenna's range is abysmal. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad it even has the ability to learn RF remote controls because for some reason, the remote control to a lamp I am using is, despite its design (which is how IR remotes look like), an RF remote for some very indiscernable reason. And the fact that the RM4 Pro can scan and learn basic RF remotes is incredible, credit where credit is due. But just like I said, the range is abysmal, and that's an understatement. The original remote to the lamp can easily cross 10-20 meters in range, whereas the RM4 "Pro" absolutely CAN NOT BE further away than 2-3 meters at the absolute most. It cannot even be laying down flat, as the signal simply won't reach the device. It has to be facing the unit that I want to control almost directly, because pointing it in any other direction outside of a 45° angle from the device I intend to control, leaves me with no control of said device whatsoever. This means that, unless I place the RM4 Pro Hub either opposite to the device or right next to it, it doesn't function as intended and cannot be used to control devices that might be slightly further away from where the RM4 Pro Hub was placed. And even though the range advertised is far greater than what I described, it does not function like that in the real world sadly. This is also a very glaring issue of the device, because the remote control it is supposed to emulate can easily control the device from 10-20 meters away and without needing a clear line of sight (with only a few small obstables in the way).Aside from the RF antenna problem, which is my biggest gripe with the device by far, there is a somewhat minor thing that bothers me, which is that, while I get that microUSB might be cheaper to produce, in 2024, I simply see no reason as to why a device should not come with USB-C out of the box. I do realize the product was released in 2020, and designed for about a few months to a year before release, but USB-C has already been a standard for pretty much all IoT devices and Phones since 2017/2018, so there really is no good reason it still uses microUSB, and that is something I hope they can fix with the release of the RM5 just like the RF antenna range problem.Last but not least, and this is more of a problem with the app than the product, but for some reason, integration with a couple of services that can hook into the Broadlink app (officially or unofficially) isn't as smooth as it could be, since the devices registered as "Sub devices" don't actually have full feature sharing to the external services. This resulted in me basically having to recreate and re-learn all the RF codes for the remote in Home Assistant, something which should be as simple as adding the device to Home Assistant and then it automatically importing the remote, but it can't do that since the Broadlink app works in some very mysterious ways.Anyways, asides from those issues, the device is worth it to me regardless 👌

Einfache Installation und einfaches Anlernen meines mit Funkfernbedienug 433 Mhz zu bedienenden Deckenventilators. Jetzt über iPhone mit WLAN. Alle Tasten konnten problemlos angelernt werden. War total positiv überrascht. Ja, ist nerdig, aber da hatte ich schon lange Bock drauf. Würde es wieder kaufen.Achtung: Einfache Installation nur dann wenn 2,4 GHz WLAN verwendet wird. In meinen WLAN mit 5 oder mit beiden Frequenzen war die Installation nicht möglich. Also genau wie vom Hersteller beschrieben. Da aus meiner Sicht nicht mehr zeitgemäß. Deshalb ein Stern Abzug.Tipp:Einfach ein zweites WLAN mit 2,4 GHz auf dem Router einrichten und das für Installation und Betrieb verwenden. Mit dem Handy kann man danach wieder in sein normales WLAN „gehen“. Bedienung ist dann trotzdem möglich.

Kann ich nur empfehlen. Mit dem Broadlink lassen sich alle Infrarotgeräte steuern.Wenn ein Gerät nicht in der Liste dabei ist, lässt sich jede Taste der Fernbedienung kinderleicht programieren.Habe den RM4 pro hinter dem Fernseher installiert. Selbst dort hat er noch genügend Sendekraft.Die App ist noch etwas Ausbaufähig. Diese ist sehr Unstrukturiert, unübersichtlich Aufgebaut und nicht komplett in Deutsch übersetzt.

Das ist der letzte Schrott. Sprachbefehle funktionieren gegen Null, quasi einmal von 50 versuchen, wortwörtlich. Das anlernen vom RF funktioniert überhaupt nicht. Das anlernen vom Infrarot funktioniert zwar aber per alexa steuern? Wie gesagt funktioniert gegen null . Und per App steuern funktioniert zwar aber in Zeitlupe, aber hey das Feuchtigkeitmessgerät und die Temperaturanzeige funktionieren anscheinend… glaub ich zumindest. Habe mir echt viel erhofft. Voll die Entäuschung

Für mich dient die Broadlink RM4 dazu, meine Geräte in der richtigen Reihenfolge einzuschalten. Klingt jetzt etwas blöd, wenn man nur einen Fernseher einschalten möchte. Bei mir steht etwas mehr herum.Ich schalte zuerst einen Mediaplayer ein, danach 10 sek später den Verstärker, danach den Projektor, die Leinwand und jeweils zweitversetzt noch Zusatzverstärker. Danach werden gleich die Schritte auf dem Mediaplayer ausgeführt. 1. App starten, danach Auswahl der nächsten Ordner etc.. Ich wähle auch zwischen den Eingängen des Verstärkers aus, ob ich eine Blue Ray, vom Mediaplayer oder vom Amazon Fire TV Stick schauen möchte. Dementsprechend habe ich dann 3 Automatismen (Makros) hinterlegt.Das spart eine Menge Klicks. Wichtig war für mich, dass ich die Zeiten zwischen den Befehlen festlegen kann, da einige Schritte zeitversetzt durchgeführt werden müssen. Das gleiche ist dann für das Ausschalten in einem Befehl zusammen gefasst.Deshalb eine klare Kaufempfehlung.Ich muss aber auch den Kritiken zustimmen, die meinen, der Programmiervorgang ist etwas tricky. Leider gibt es nur wenige hilfreiche Tricks im Internet zur RM4. Die Anleitung ist nur in Englisch und auch recht spartanisch. Eigentlich fehlt ein eindeutiger Hinweis, was alles nicht geht.Man benötigt Geduld und Ausdauer um zum Ziel zu gelangen. Aber für den günstigen Preis, kann man nicht mehr verlangen.Es ist mir zum Beispiel noch nicht gelungen, eine meiner WLAN Steckdosen mit einzubinden. Ich vermute mal, ich muss eine spezielle WLAN Steckdoese kaufen, da die anderen nicht unterstützt werden.
