I added a 2nd chartplotter to my system so I could use one for monitoring the engine and the other for maps and sonar. I knew I would be needing more NMEA cables and grabbed this kit so I can expand even more if needed. I do plan on adding a GPS to my trolling motor so I would need another connection. I will still need a long cable to go from the Trolling GPS but I wanted the 2m drop cables for the 2nd chartplotter. I do like that 2 are connected to help shorten the length when adding to make the install look cleaner.

I was going to buy the kit from the manufacturer of the radio I have, but put it off and bought another power lead from a wiring company that had thicker gauge leads. This one has the smaller gauge power leads as the radio mfg, but I needed more connectors and terminators requiring full kit, so I bought this one. The color coding makes it more easy to identify each piece of the system.

This NMEA 2000 kit made it so my garmin, simrad, engine, and fuel level sensor could all share data. It won’t make your waypoints transfer machines but you can share depth value and temp data via the network. My Suzuki will also transfer things like engine temp, RPM, and trim position to either display unit. Install was fairly simple and I made sure the keep the backbone centrally located and high enough to stay dry. So far it’s worked great and been trouble free!
