I enjoyed shooting with the FX Z mount Meike 35/2 so much I ended up ordering the FX Z mount Meike 55/1.8 pro!50-58mm is my favourite focal length, I fell in love with the 55mm focal length with my old FE 55 1.8 ZA (Sony/Zeiss) and this is no exception.I'm not going to put it up against "the image maker" - 50 1.2S - it's 7 times the cost of the 55 1.8.However against the 50 1.8S - in my opinion; the 55 1.8 renders nicer. Not as sharp, but the bokeh - esp foreground bokeh - is much smoother where the 1.8S is rather nervous. The 55 1.8 focuses is fairly quick, close focus is thankfully a standard 55cm, it's very light weight at 360grams, has a manual aperture ring and relative to performance - inexpensiveSample image at 1.8 on a Z9

The lens feels well balanced on my A7III and handles well. I like the feel of the knurling a lot and the placement and weight of the mf / af switch works well for me.Autofocus even on my A7III is good, snappy and accurate. Focus breathing is excellent and the manual focus ring is very useable too.Sharpness is excellent wide open in the centres and the edges clear up by around f2.8.Colour Rendering is pretty good and Contrast is very good, albeit a bit low at the edges.Chromatic Aberration is very minimal as is barrel distortion.Vignetting is almost non existent wide open. Ghosting and Flare is present but not enough to be an issue.Bokeh is very pleasing, a little imperfect but that gives it the good kind of character and overall this is one of my favourite standards lenses IQ wise in a while. This is a very decent competitor and I think this lens is excellent value.

I've been buying more of these Meike lenses recently and every time I'm super impressed with the quality. The build quality is really nice for a super budget friendly lens. The image quality much nicer than you'd think for the price. 55mm is a great focal length and this one shines at 1.8.There seems to be a slight magenta hue on these, both in camera and on the computer, but that was supr easy to fix... Other than that, there's no complaints. Price, aperture ring, AF/MF switch, light weight.... It really has everything higher priced lenses have.Highly recommend this for anyone not looking to spend GM money.

I recently added the Meike 55mm f/1.8 FE lens to my kit. The f/1.8 aperture allows for stunning low-light performance and beautiful background blur, making portraits pop with clarity. The lens is lightweight and compact, perfect for on-the-go photography, and the autofocus is quick and precise. I’ve been impressed with the sharpness across the frame, even at wider apertures. Whether I'm capturing street scenes or family moments, this lens consistently delivers outstanding results. For anyone looking to elevate their photography without breaking the bank, the Meike 55mm f/1.8 FE is an excellent choice! Highly recommended!

I have the classic Nikon AF-S 50mm f/1.8 lens, which I love. It’s great for portraits and street photography. I now shoot mirrorless (Z6ii) and don’t like having to take the FTZ II adapter off and on each time I change lenses. So, I’m slowing converting my kit to all Z-mount lenses and bout this 55mm f/1.8 to replace my 50mm.Build Quality: The build quality is excellent! The lens looks modern and has some cool red accents. It’s longer than my 50mm, but pretty light.Autofocus: Autofocus is quick and snappy and I haven’t experienced any hunting. It works great on both of my mirrorless cameras (Nikon Z6ii and Z30). It’s easy to switch to manual focus with the switch on the side. My nighttime photos are great with this and it performs very well. I've been taking a lot of photos of people in front of Christmas lights and am very happy with the results.Bokeh: The aperture ring is a really cool feature! The f-stop is changed on the lens rather than on the camera. It makes it easy to quickly change as needed when shooting. I use this often when taking photos as conditions quickly change. Bokeh is superb! The bokeh is very creamy and helps highlight the subject. It has also been great at higher apertures for landscapes and architecture.Overall, I’m very happy with the Meike 55mm f/1.8 lens. Focus is sharp and fast, the aperture ring is very useful, build quality is tough, and the photos I’ve taken look great. Meike is building itself as an excellent budget-friendly alternative to the Nikon lenses for us hobby photographers.
