These were my first exposure to walkie talkies since the ancient ones with pull out telescopic antennas from the 80s! ;) Was quite impressed with the diminutive size and light weightiness of the units. Unfortunately, each requires three 1.5v AA batteries - so Alkaline type. I tried some rechargeable lesser voltage ones I had laying around but they did not work. After testing with newly bought Alkaline AA (Duracell) ones - the units sprung to life! :)I tested walking around my house with a family member in another room and also end of the garden - with us set to the same channel/frequency (there are 16 to choose from) and they performed really well. While not mobile quality - you can still make out what the other person is saying. There was a sometimes a little bit of static or interference but not too bad. They are listed as having a maximum 5km range which is quite impressive.There is also a torch function and the main screens have a green backlight so could be perfect for night-time use or camping as well! Another good use would be to keep in touch with separated friends/family at festival events and such where there is usually no or poor mobile signals! ;)Come with a Wish Card and are nicely presented so would make a nice gift or Xmas filler! ;)My only small gripe is that they only take 1.5v Alkaline AA batteries and don't support or have rechargeable batteries built in so there is the extra cost of having to buy new batteries to factor in as well.Overall still quite a fun little pair of walkie talkies and would recommend at current price of £22.99!
