Attempting to use the S3 Zero in an ESP Now project. To do this you need to secure the MAC address of the slave S3 Zero. The board will not connect to wifi to read the mac address. I have searched for solutions and have found many instances of the same problem. Another issue is after a minute or so connected to my computer for downloading code the on board LED will cease working. I have tried with all six boards and same issues.

I can't say enough good things about this device. It's my first time playing with ESP32 hardware. I purchased these and the matrix unit, and love both. It's difficult to understand how capable an $8 computer can be. This dual core and FreeRTOS seems to have no end of functionality. Withing weeks I've been able to monitor BLE broadcasts, decode and log the captured data using LittleFS. Utilize the LED to indicate a variety of device status. Used WiFi and NTP to set the datetime for logging, and a Touch button to toggle webservice to extract and/or graph data. Just need to monitor the motion sensors to sleep when not active and I'll have used most features on this tiny board. I'll be buying more of these for ESPHome and future project uses.

The things I liked about the product:Has plenty of pins for its small footprint size.Has an inbuilt, addressable RGB LED.Has USB-C instead of micro-USB.Supported with an extensive documentation.

Waveshare continues to knock it out of the park. I can't say much bad here. You get what you see.I picked these up because I actually had given out or have used all of my prior USB C mini-project boards and needed some more. I recently wanted to try to setup my boards with a humidity and temp sensor and place power them with USB A male -> USB-C Male adapter to keep its footprint as small as possible. Beaming this data to a prometheus endpoint so grafana can pick it up.The small RGB light on the board is nice touch. It easily allows you to see status if you program it to do such. The wifi/bluetooth signal is good - but don't expect the world from such a small antennae. If you've used boards even like ones such as the rpi with wifi, it can be pretty comparable to that. Range isn't much of an issue for me since the server and the router sit pretty close together.Documentation is good enough for someone basic to come in and get started. Some more advanced users can probably guess how to hit the ground running. Overall I think these are great for small scale projects that don't require much power/wiring. It was nice seeing a 5V pinout over a 3.3v I have seen in the past with other smaller microcontrollers.

I love esp32-based boards. they're easy to configure in the Arduino IDE and super versatile. Adding a web interface to all my gadgets saves money on switches and dials too. I particularly like the form-factor of these mini S3 boards. Very nice build quality.
