The "adhesive pad is rough cut to about 12" x 18 " x 3/8" thick. The actual heating element is only 7.75 x 12,0"So You paying a lot for an adhesive pad. The heating element area does not have any adhesive. Recommend applying Thermally conductive adhesive to both the heating pad area and to the substrate . Do not apply any adhesive to the black pad.The heating element is Teflon coated and thus waterproof.The insulation is black butyl foam rubber. Similar to Kilmat.If you want to control your own temperature then this is not the pad for you. While the Thermostat could be bypassed it would no longer be waterproof.Actual test measurements # 12.00VDC is 3.25 Amps or 38.65 Watts. NOT the 41 Watts they claim. This was at 32°FSince V x A = Watts their claim of 12v x 2.5A = 41 does not add up. 12 x 2.5 = 30.This can be run at any voltage you want from 6.0v- 48.0v as long as you do the math ahead and figure out the current draw. 39.65W / Voltage = Amps.Its just a heating coil.I am using them to heat the ceiling and walls of my RV for deicing purposes.While there are cheaper options, this product you are paying for the convenience, easy of installation and insulation.I recommend adding a digital thermometer to make sure you know when they are on and a kill switch.Use a multi pole relay to turn on off multiple pads simultaneously and a kill switch to control the relay.You can put as many in parallel as you like as long as you add up the Amps or watts.Remember heat rises so it is less effective on the side of an object than under an object.
