It is an incredibly well laid out book appropriate for age 9 on up with some assistance. It really does what it says.I have one concern. It was delayed at one point and it was not clear when it would arrive. When it arrived, it was clear the package was opened and repackaged. I wasn't bothered so much by that or the bent corner as I was the sickeningly floral smell the book has. I don't know if that was part of a decontamination attempt or what, but my wife almost had an asthma attack coming near it, and I find it unsettling to read. I wish they didn't do what ever they did to this book. It actually deserved a 5 star, but I am hoping time with baking soda in a vacuum container may make it suitable to give to my kid. For now all I can say is Wow...Please next time just burn the book and send me a new one. I almost returned it.

I like this book a lot.Pros:* it covers the basics of both 3D design and best practices for 3D printing* it has projects that kids could relate to and shows pictures with kids in them* the book is well illustrated with four color plates on almost every page* it takes an integrated approach to software and 3D printing* the packages the book uses are freeCons:* some of the material is out of date already in that sites listed or software mentioned was discontinued a couple of years ago, e.g., autodesk flow design* the projects really require varying levels from moderate to extensive adult supervision* the book did not emphasize important aspects of 3D printing like support structures, fills, and printing time(While it is a bummer, many of the projects in the book are going to take hours, at least, to print, and that will vary considerably based on fill factor, etc.)All in all, this is a good book for the new, junior 3D printer masters, but be prepared as the adult in their lives to spend some time learning about 3D printing as you walk your apprentice through the steps. It will be good bonding time and something you may look back on the rest of your lives.
