The kids love these, but depending on your flooring they might not be great for you. I don't care much about our floors and its find on the laminate wood plank but on the sheet flooring the old stuff, its scuffs it up a bit..Also the whole thing spins. i thought the blue part stayed on the ground and only the black spun. but it's rounded just a little on the blue side.

I purchased this to have both a class of ballet students and madam (ballet instructor) test as well as a balance-challenged adult so that a wide range of experiences could be used for this review. The class of students took a little bit to get used to this trainer and after which found it easy to use and practice for spotting as it provides less traction/drag on the floor, allowing for greater rotation in between fouettés. The madam found it rather easy to adjust to, whereas the beginner adult found balancing on the center of their foot a difficult but exciting challenging prospect. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this for someone who can normally balance and gain enough momentum to get 1-2 turn arounds without falling, as this will allow you to practice where on your foot you are putting pressure and where you are spotting.A few notes that didn't remove any stars for me because they were more personal preference, but I still think are important to recognize. 1) before you buy, take a piece of paper and cut it to the dimensions specified in the listing. The plates really are small, and as a size 10 womens I found it more difficult to use than the ballet students. 2) keep the shape of the turn plate in mind. As this is round, it is best for when you put pressure on a specific part of your foot, such as the toe, for your turns, whereas ice skaters beginning their turn practices may be more comfortable with a long board the length of their foot can fit on. and 3) look at the picture for use of the spinner. I was quite tired when I opened it at first and put the spinner foam-side down, which did not move at all, lol.In closing, if you are an individual able to spin 1-2 times on one foot without falling, you will have the balance to make use of this product. It would work better for dancers than ice skaters based on where you put the weight in your foot, and smaller-footed individuals may make better use out of this, but with patient effort anyone can learn to use it! Helpful especially for finding your center of balance.

Tiny, horrible quality for a spinner.

These are pretty neat training aids for the hockey player or figure skater in your life! They help with agility and balance during off ice training sessions. They slide effortlessly across carpet or tile flooring and can be used just about anywhere. My son is very happy with such a simple tool to add to his skating off ice routine.
