This meter, is basically the same model I owned first as a technician 15 years ago. I don't remember what happened to that one and I've owned other meters since. I currently have four (Extech, Fieldpiece, Phoenix UEI, and now a Uni-T), three of which usually stay on the truck unless needed for backup, specific functions or just calibration checks. The Amprobe here (ACD-14Plus) is a model which I have given up trying to maintain as the meter that goes on my pouch. Its small size and versatility really appealed to me, but I've replaced it way too frequently to justify it as a reliable tool for the professional mechanic. The Uni-t is smaller and is now taking the Amprobe's place (it's fitness for the purpose the jury is still out on). I had hoped that Fluke taking over the Amprobe brand would result in a quality improvement but sadly, their reputation and efforts remain confined to the yellow meters I guess. I tried returning this meter before for repair, but they make that economiocally dumb. I guess Fluke thinks its ok to ask a meter's buyer to expect to replace it every four months. Out of the box I always liked this meter (small-size, variety of functions, etc) but it just quits working in very frustrating ways. The last one I bought and just threw out, after buying new in August, stopped reading volts (and no, I checked the leads and battery). Don't waste your money.
