This did not work well on my dog's coat. The blade simply isn't sharp enough, and pulls on the mat instead of easily cutting through it. I resorted back to the letter openers I have been using that I bought in office supply. Those are a lot cheaper and work substantially better.

This might be okay for animals that have not trained their owners into submission, but for my Pekingese, it was hard to get close enough to properly cut the mat from her body. I thought it would get under it more easily than it did and I had to give up. I'll try it again, and get a braver partner to hold her while I try.
