I'm writing this as a former specific European brand mechanic with information from that specific manufacturer about why the were (don't know if they have their own "brand" of this now, or not) recommending this. The manufacturer in question had done some heat, and salt water testing of various lubes. Including their own silicone grease, and a few other brands. Indirect pressure washing, and soaking the wheel of the car, on an incline, in salt water for extended periods of time yielded the result that Plastilube was actually staying put compared to all other grease which washed away. So, as a result, I would just buy it with my personal money for use on customer cars when I would perform break jobs. No one wants a come-back of course. Least of all the customer! I would, and still do, use this on my personal cars without a hiccup.Knowing how, and where, to apply this grease to your brakes is a must. Sliding calipers, and aluminum piston calipers have different styles of pads, and different grease locations. This grease, as others have stated, works great as an anti-squeak too.In fact, that anti-squeak function was the main reason why the manufacturer in question was unofficially recommending that this grease be used. For a while, after 2008, this European manufacturer had moved over from French brake pads and, ahem, "Scandinavian" rotors (we'll call them) to Indian pads and Chinese rotors (these are countries of origin only I'm referring too, and mean no cultural harm in any way) for its pre-1999 cars as a cost saving move when the economy tanked. Many manufacturers did this of course, but it has taken several years for those, in this case, Indian and Chinese flagged suppliers to come up to the European quality standards that the manufacturer in question, and I'm sure others, were used too. As a result, during that 2008-2011 era, this manufacturer was having to do everything from in-shop machining of brake pads (for dust collection) to outright replacing JUST installed Chinese origin rotors after only 1500 miles. Even putting customers of these cars in Rental cars as the "problem" was diagnosed for weeks on end. One of the more effective solutions at the time was to move to this, more premium, Plastilube grease to keep noise AND braking vibration down.So I highly recommend this lube for any brake job. I don't care the car or its origin either as I use this on my Japanese and Korean home fleet often.
