I love this book. I loved using oil pastels before but never knew the techniques to bring more life to my paintings. This book gives a great summary of all the different tools and techniques. The projects seem simple enough for beginners. I am glad that it didn't contain any technical jargons and while it is very informative, it isn't difficult to understand for beginners. Highly recommended!!

This is a great work for beginners. It includes all that is absolutely necessary to do oil, pastels, and no more incidentals. Therefore, it is easy for a beginner to get the jist of how to do this medium.

Libro davvero elementare, che non si spinge oltre un'applicazione meccanica delle limitate tecniche esposte. Data la limitata qualità dei contenuti, più che ai principianti dei pastelli lo consiglierei ai principianti assoluti, a quanti non hanno mai tenuto in mano una matita o osservato i particolari di un dipinto; se non fosse che anche la quantità è ridotta al minimo: meno di 90 pagine, se non si contano indice e sommario.Il suo prezzo non dovrebbe superare i 5€, nella versione Kindle.

This has become my favourite beginners book on oil pastels, and how to make the most of this media. Tim Fisher explores several techniques for achieving a variety of results through blending, mark making, mixing with other media and the use of solvents. The author also provides useful tips to safely keep and store or display your work. As a hobbyist, I am really really happy with my purchase. I bought the Kindle edition and it is perfect to create notes and enlarge the images in your computer. The dictionary is also activated, as well as Web search. Good edition.

Awful. There are not many books about using oil pastels but even for a beginner this won't inspire main because the project paintings are amateurish and very old fashioned. People hoping to start with the medium will not be impressed.
