These cards are under the usual size, which I didn't check until after I received the item. I didn't check the size because it didn't occur to me that anyone would offer weaving cards under this usual size which is over 4" on each dimension, meaning these cards are one quarter the size of most square cards. Size is important for two big reasons: ease of handling and size of weaving shed, which in turn affects the size of the shuttle and the amount of fiber you can load on it.Cards as small as these will create a maximum shed of 1 1/4". (The shed is the available weaving space between top and bottom warp threads through which one shoots the weaving shuttle, loaded with your weft yarn.) I estimated maximum shed size by measuring diagonally opposite holes on center. By that method, normal cards would yield a 4" shed. The small shed possible with these cards means you'll probably have to use smaller, hard-to-find, custom or DIY stick shuttles and not load them with a lot of fiber. (Note: The product description poses these cards with both sewing thread, which is possible but not usual, and 4-ply worsted yarn, which would probably be too big to weave with these cards.)Cards this small may also be harder to hold and turn, which is how one manipulates the warp threads to create patterns. You may also have to change card turning direction more often than called for in any prepared patterns you use, to avoid overtwisted warp threads. You may be able to lessen this problem by mounting your warp threads on swivel hardware, often found in fishing equipment. If you intend to use these cards exclusively on short warps either off loom with pegs or on a small inkle or card loom, with smaller grist yarns, you may be okay. I'm still debating whether I will keep or return these cards. If I keep them it will be some time before I can conduct a full test. If I find different results than what I project, I will edit this review. On the bright side these cards:--are probably finished well enough (including the holes) to work with many yarns (you may still wish to sand them further)--are made of wood which makes them last longer than the usual heavy card. Note: cardboard cards usually don't have holes this close to the corners but that would not be as big a problem with wood cards.--corners that are rounded--made of thin but strong enough woodWooden cards can be stained and varnished. You can make permanent marks mark (numbers and letters) using some markers or woodburners.

The Benecreat 24 piece square weaving card is a nice set of weaving cards for tablet, or card, weaving. The wood is very lightweight but more sturdy and durable than the paper card stock ones available for a similar price. The edges and holes seem pretty smooth and will hopefully not catch my yarn as I’m weaving. The wood seems unfinished except for the edges which may be wood burned. The cards are small enough to make turning and handling easy. I do feel that they should be made of a heavier, more durable wood in order to withstand constant turning. However, this set is a great value for someone that wants to get into tablet/card weaving and would like something more durable than the paper cards that are on the market. They will be easy to mark on one of the flat sides to help keep your pattern from getting messed up.

I was uncertain when I ordered these cards and still skeptical the first time I used them. The shed was much smaller than on my cardboard cards but it was easy for me to adjust to the new area. I marked one side clockwise and the other counter so when I need to warp my loom backwards it is easy and all it took was a Sharpie. I also marked the edges where my A mark was. The edges have become smoother as I use them and I am about to order a second set for when I make a really wide band.

The tactile nibs on the side are perfect. I wish they also came in a few larger sizes for fibers that catch on each other easily.
