I knew I was going to buy this book. I have most of the other books published by this company and the quality is absolutely out of this world. What I did not know is how useful this book is in understanding design principles that are easily transferable to other disciplines. I am currently studying usability and design principles in a PhD program in Ed Tech and this book perfectly aligns with many of the theories and rules that I have learned. In fact, this book has given me many ideas beyond what I have studied so far. I would suggest this book to ANYONE that is interested in design in general. For synth addicts, it is a no-brainer. GET IT.

Eines der besten Bücher, nein das beste Buch über Interfaces in der Musikindustrie. Sämtliche Bedienkonzepte werden besprochen, fast alle meine Geräte werden erklärt. Wundervoll, auch das Vorwort, aber vor allem der Inhalt. Unglaublich viele Abbildungen, sehr hochwertig gedruckt, das erklärt den Preis.

I have been looking for this book for a long time. like much of my career in music technology. I even created slide decks for teaching some of the topics covered in this book. I got lost in the weeds of the New Interfaces for Musical Expression conference proceedings looking for what is collected and presented right here in one 349 page master piece. I will be liberally borrowing from this book for my next talk on controllers. I could easily use portions of this book as a text book for an electronic music performance or design class. This book is a perfect companion for Synth Gems by Mike Metlay when designing a class on the history of electronic music or a class about building electronic music instruments. That said, its not a text book that you would read linearly. The content is mostly comprised of short articles and interviews. Its easy to pick up read a couple articles get stoked on some aspect of electronic music interface design and go make something cool. Its going to be a while before this book makes it to a bookshelf. its been open on my desk for a month now. stoked.
