I recently got the BougeRV CRX12 Portable Fridge, and it is excellent! This 31-quart fridge/freezer is packed with great features that make it perfect for road trips, camping, or off-grid adventures. It has many uses. One of the standout features is the dual-zone design—you can keep one side as a fridge and the other as a freezer with independent temperature control, or just remove the divider to use it as a single unit. It runs on both 120V AC and 12V DC, making it super versatile whether you're at home or in a car. Plus, the option to power it with two BougeRV 220Wh batteries is a game-changer for those times when you're off the grid. The unit I purchased didn't come with batteries. It costs extra. The cooling performance is impressive—it cools down quickly on max mode, and on eco mode, it's very efficient, pulling about 45 watts when I set one side to 0°F (freezer) and the other to 37°F (fridge). The compressor is on the right side, so I recommend using the right side as the freezer since it cools down first. It also feels premium and well-built, with a sturdy carry handle for lifting, a pull handle, and built-in wheels for easy transport. The built-in drain hole makes cleaning a breeze, and the Bluetooth app control lets you adjust temperatures conveniently from your phone. Another big plus is how quiet it is—you barely notice it's running.Overall, it’s a high-quality and efficient portable fridge that’s perfect for any adventure.

This is a very quiet device, operating somewhere around 45dB at 1 meter while the compressor is running, i'd be able to hear someone whisper to me. The surfaces reach the desired temperature very quickly, although whatever is inside will still have its own thermal innertia and take its own time to cool. In my case, the cooling reached a steady state temperature after about 30 minutes, and then the compressor stopped for complete silence, then it cycles every 10-15 minutes or so using a bit over 30Watts. I don't know that i'd want to have this near my head while sleeping in a tent, but it probably wouldn't be so loud as to impede my sleep. Overall, a good experience, and easy to operate, i was even able to easily switch it to celsius. The screen goes to sleep mode in less than a minute and there are no LEDs that will stay on while it's running (note that the power supply has a green LED, but you can flip that upside down if you're hoping for darkness). Very friendly. I did not get a chance to test out the batteries for it since mine didn't come with any, but it's obvious where the batteries would go. There is a multipin blade connector at the bottom of each fo the battery compartments, although i couldn't find the right batteries to fit this connector, the recommended batteries don't appear to have this connector. If you want to use the batteries, it may be best to purchase it with the batteries right away, as Amazon didn't presently have the right batteries to purchase after.I wanted to run the app that provides access all the features through bluetooth, but before it will run it required me to agree to give my identity, access to my phone calls, camera, location, my private photos, etc, and it automatically creates an account to track your information. This a a premium fridge at a premium cost, and the app doesn't add new capabilities to justify paying for it with my personal information, so it remained untested. It's worth the purchase even without the app, especially if it's going to be kept nearby overnight.

This is a nice replacement for a conventional cooler if you're looking to get into something a bit more sustainable. I was glad to try this refrigerator out after being a bit disappointed with my ice cooler's inability to keep things cool for much more than about a day or so, even when the marketing material claimed otherwise. This fridge draws fairly low power, allowing me to run it alongside other electronics from a large power bank and, with a solar solution, keep things refrigerated/frozen indefinitely. The ability to configure a fridge/freezer hybrid or have a larger version of either is really nice, and being able to control it remotely prevents the need to climb out of the tent (and have the dog go nuts thinking it's time to play) in the middle of the night if I want to turn it off.The app is simple to use and isn't crowded with things you don't need. All the basic controls are right there, and they make sense. The compartment for power banks does result in some dead space if you don't wind up using their power banks. I think on the whole I'd rather have that flexibility than not, so it's a worthy sacrifice. It would be one thing if there weren't cost-effective compatible banks, but it seems like there are a few options and none of them are unreasonably expensive. If nothing else, it's nice to have a built-in compartment to store about have a kilowatt-hour of energy that you can use for anything.

So I’ve been testing out the BougeRV CRX2, and overall? Pretty dang impressed. This thing cools fast. You plug it in, and within half an hour it’s gone from room temp to ice-cold. This would help in situations where you do not have consistent power supply (i.e. you need to shut your engine off) for long period of time. The compressor itself is super quiet too. If you're in a tent or van, you’ll hear it hum when it kicks on, but it's chill (pun intended). Probably not something you wanna keep right next to your head while you're sleeping, but it ain't loud enough to ruin your night. It cycles every 10–15 minutes once it's reached temp, and honestly, it's way more peaceful than constantly dealing with soggy food in a regular cooler. Now, onto the dual-zone part—yes, it's as awesome as it sounds. You can have one side as a freezer, one side as a fridge, or just use the whole thing as either. Super handy if you’re road-tripping, camping, or pretending you're on an overlanding adventure when you're really just parked at a KOA.Power-wise, it sips energy. I ran it off a big battery pack and even had room to run other stuff, and with a solar setup, you could go full off-grid weekend warrior. Just a heads-up though: it doesn't come with the internal batteries. Those are sold separately and are not cheap (like, $200 each kinda not cheap). Also, the batteries it’s supposedly compatible with? Kinda hard to find unless you buy them bundled with the fridge. So if you’re thinking of going battery-only, plan ahead or you’ll be disappointed like a few other folks were. The app... ehh. Mixed feelings here. It works fine, and it’s super convenient to not have to crawl outta your tent to adjust temps or turn it off. But the permissions it asks for? Woof. It wants everything—your photos, your location, maybe even your favorite pizza topping. I skipped the app after that, and honestly, didn’t miss it. You can do everything important from the control panel anyway. One other small note: there’s a space for power banks inside the unit, which is cool if you’ve got the right battery. But if not, it’s kind of dead space. Still, I’d rather have the option than not.TL;DR:Pros:Chills fast, stays coldRuns quietFridge + freezer combo is awesomeLow power draw (solar-friendly)App is convenient (if you’re cool with the privacy stuff)Cons:Internal batteries sold separately and kinda priceyApp wants a lot of your infoBattery slot = wasted space if you’re not using oneIf you’re serious about keeping stuff cold without constantly buying ice, and you're willing to invest a little more upfront, this one’s a winner. Just know what you're getting into on the battery and app side.
