The microphone does exactly what it says it will good sound and quality I did not read and I wish I had that it won't work live it only works with a recording so if you're trying to use it like a PA system you can't but it's a great mic for recording and I will get lots of use out of it I'm just bummed that it doesn't transmit the way I thought it would

I am a full-time cinematographer and own a number of small shotgun mics. This is the first combo that I've owned that is truly unique in the fact that it has a separate lapel wireless mic, combined with the onboard shotgun mic. That's truly a game changer as they are both compact and stay clipped together but can be separated when the wireless lapel mic needs to be used. Normally you would just have the shotgun mic only. But the fact that you can unclip the wireless lapel mic for your subject to use, allows you to isolate their voice without all the background noise. The sound quality from the wireless mic was absolutely fantastic. In fact, I was very surprised by the quality considering how small the mic is.The fact that you can switch between the shotgun mic, the wireless lapel mic, or a mix of them both is just awesome! Sometimes you want that background atmosphere audio but you want the person speaking to be clear and isolated as well. When I did some testing using the mix selection, it had a very organic and authentic sound, as the shotgun mic would pick up the surroundings, and yet the speaker's voice was very clear and isolated in the mix. It's almost hard to explain, you just have to hear it but it's definitely well worth the money! In fact this is now my go-to mic setup when I'm on the run.Battery life is fantastic as well and will get you through hours of recording without recharging.Overall it's simple to set up and use.... I'm very happy with this shotgun & wireless mic combo.

I really wanted to like this microphone. It's such an interesting and useful idea--a tiny, on camera microphone, combined with a small, clip-on wireless lavelier-style "button" microphone. All in one compact package. But for several reasons, the concept overpromises, but under delivers. The primary one is sound quality. I've been spoiled by wireless systems like the RODE Wireless Go and DJI's wireless mic system that actually sound pretty good. This microphone (both of them, actually--the mini shotgun and the attached lavelier-type microphone), don't sound all that great. In fact, they sound to me more like what happens when you add way too much noise reduction in post--kind of unnatural and electronically altered. (Maybe it's something that you can fix with some EQ, but I kind of doubt it.)I think it's a nicely presented product. It comes in a nice box with the necessary wind screens and cables. It's even got its own plastic shock mount. But that mount actually exacerbates the audio challenges this mic faces, because the shock mount does NOT adequately isolate the mic from the sounds generated by handling a camera that it's attached to. So for that reason, it's not really a shock mount at all. It's just a mount. The small wireless button mic that's attached to it is a cool idea, too. But it sounds equally sub par when paired to the main microphone and clipped on a person's shirt, for example. Plus, sliding the tiny, delicate microphone off the shotgun microphone is a bit difficult and every time I did it, I worried I was going to break its clip when I did. Also, since the "button mic" and the main microphone have no electronic connection (the button mic just clips on the main mic), they need to be charged separately through their individual USB-C ports.Final observation worth noting: the main mic and the button mic, when both are used for recording, do not record on separate channels but are both mono signals...which means you can't separate what you recorded on each if you put them into an editing program. (At least that was my experience.)Bottom line, this microphone system, while an ambitious concept, is not suitable for my needs. However, if you just wanted to play around with a fairly affordable wireless mic option or you wanted to give the kids something to play with, this might be a good choice. The sound quality alone puts it in the "no thanks" category for me.

I picked up the BOYA Wireless Lavalier Microphone and On-Camera Shotgun Mic to be used for my on-camera videos. In the box, it comes with the shotgun mic, lapel mic, dead cat attachment for lavalier mic, dead cat cover for the shotgun mic, foam wind-screen for the shotgun mic, shotgun mic mount with shoe mount, 2x USB-C charging cables, smartphone to mic cable, mic to camera cable, pouch for your mic and cables, and a user manual. On the shotgun mic there's a switch (RX - MIX - TX), with the RX mode being just the shotgun mic, MIX is taking both the shotgun and the lavalier mic, and TX just being the lavalier mic. When testing the microphones, the RX and TX make the most sense to me, especially with just me being on camera. RX, when the camera is placed closer to me works well and sounds pretty good - it all depends on the ambient noise you have around you on whether or not you might want to use the foam screen or dead cat on the mic. Most of the time I keep the dead cat on the mic. When editing the video I often modify the audio a little in post - but the overall quality is good.I've had the best results with the TX mode in using the lavalier microphone. To sync the lavalier and the shotgun you hold the buttons on each until they light up, when not synced they'll flash but when they're both in sync the light will be solid. The sound quality is good, if not slightly on the bright side. When recording I just watch the level of my voice as not to have my audio clip.Under MIX option, I had terrible results and it's not an option I'd consider using unless I had another person on camera with me, and even at that I'd likely use a different solution. One thing to note: I set my camera to the lowest sound floor I can and the mic is still a bit on the bright side - so depending on your camera setup, watch the audio levels to make sure it's not clipping on youOverall, as long as you have control over the noise floor on your camera then I'd definitely recommend the BOYA Wireless Lavalier + Shotgun Microphone.
