I love this Clever Dripper. I usually use a Chemex or Aeropress. This is so much easier and way less mess. I use it every day as it is so easy. Once you dial in the grind and brew time the coffee tastes amazing! I think I am going to buy one to travel with me as well. My only complaint would be I wish there was a ceramic version.

What I do:- Use coarsely ground coffee- Let it brew for 5 minutes or so.- Stir at the start and again just prior to dispensing.- I also let the grounds "bloom" for a minute or so with just enough water to make a mud. Then I add the rest of the water.

As a self-professed coffee snob, I'm always searching for a "better method" to brew coffee. The term "better" includes both ease-of-use and the ability to control the brew time. Admittedly, I've bought many different gadgets including french presses, pour-overs, percolators, cold-brew contraptions, and even two different iterations of the Aeropress (regular and large versions).When I read about the Clever Coffee Dripper, I was sceptical. However, it was apparent this brewing system would give me the ability to control the strength of the extraction without the distraction of a messy clean-up and expensive filters.Simply put, once you "dial-in" the grind size and the amount of coffee to use, the only other variable (besides the temperature of the water) is the time you allow the grounds to steep before draining your coffee into your large 12-16 ounce cup/mug. No wimpy 5-8 ounce sippy cup when you use the Clever Coffee Dripper.Afterward, just fold-up the filter (and grounds), toss into the trash (or recycle into your compost pile), quickly rinse the dripper, wipe dry, and you're done.The final PLUS for the Clever Coffee Dripper ... you can purchase the #4 filters for a fraction of the cost of proprietary filters required for many of the other specialized coffee makers. Ive heard some good things about this coffee maker, so I decided to give it a try.I love it. Its like a weird hybrid of a French press, and a pour-over like a V60.Its actually very easy to make good coffee with it. Use your normal pour-over grind size for your coffee. Pour your water in first with just the filter in, then put the coffee in. Wait about 3 minutes, then swirl the very top of everything with a spoon to knock down the grinds into the water. After 5 minutes, put it on top of your cup and have it drain in. Thats all there is to it. Make sure to knock down the coffee into the water before you drain into the cup, else you will get a very hollow tasting cup of coffee. You want to make sure the water flows through your coffee on its way into your cup. You can put your coffee in before your water, but that makes it so it takes twice as long to drain into your cup without any noticeable difference in flavor.The main drawback to this coffeemaker, is the silicone valve at the bottom. Pure silicone has a very strong ability to retain odors, and its almost impossible to remove the odors from it.
