Have used this brand of waterproof matches many times in the past and have always been pleased. Was surprised on my last backpacking trip that this batch of matches were difficult to ignite. After 2-3 attempts the strike pad would lose integrity & pieces of the pad would go missing (see photo). This was a newly opened package. The matches also broke much more easily than in the past. The matches were never wet. Mornings were misty & cool, but this was never a factor in the past. Hoping this batch is an outlier. Disappointed.

i keep them in a waterproof container for when i need them.

Great matches for storm emergencies. I will keep them in a container to protect them/keep them dry. I needed candles recently for a storm that knocked 11 trees on my yard down. My neighbor lent me matches, but they didn't work so well, so now I have my own matches which I can share which are made awesome!
