I've a sneaking suspicion that the ambiguous description "for motor speed control" might have led some to try putting a potentiometer between the power supply and motor, hence burn-out, hence 1 star.Don't do that people!!! When used as intended, they work well and e.g. allowed me to make a decent looking job of adding easy voltage control to a DC power supply (see picture). Previously, the voltage was only adjustable via a 5k linear multi-turn pre-set potentiometer, accessed through the front panel. (For my application, the current-limit pre-set potentiometer is just wound to max).
