I extended mine with an extension piece, (luckily I can sew some heavy duty materials).I haven't measure it but I doubt it will go around a 44"+ waist

This quick release belt works really well. However, it is important not to misconnect the tongue to the buckle.As delivered, the tongue of the belt was passed through both parts of the buckle. This is shown in my first picture. This is not good news as the additional friction stops the tongue slipping out when the release lever is opened. The tongue should be arranged as in the second picture , ie it only passes through the first part of the buckle, the locking lever. Then pulling on the toggle opens the lever and the tongue flies free immediatelyAssemble correctly, this is a great safety aid. If you should buy it you will no doubt check this for yourself.

The belt is sturdy and works as it should - the old niggle is the loose loop that is there to hold the extra length to the belt but I nearly lose it every time I take the belt off. When I do lose it I expect I will just trim the thing as it is very long.
