This SUNGOOYUE voice recorder module is a bit bigger than it looks in the photos (68 x 61 x 25 mm) but is still compact enough to place inside a large toy. Most of the case is taken up by the large moving coil speaker. The case looks reasonably strong but it has a redundant hole in one side and the wires are loose in their respective outlets. However, everything is very well-bonded inside so I would not expect the leads to pull out without considerable force.This is a self-contained unit (no USB port etc) with a separate battery case for three AAA batteries (not supplied) and two decent pushbutton switches for record and playback. If you were to pre-record a message for a toy then the record button would need to be protected somehow, otherwise it will overwrite the recording if pressed again. It would be useful if the record button was inside the box and you had to press it with the tip of a pen. This would be an easy modification.In terms of audio performance, it does a very good job if the sound source is about 300 mm from the microphone. Any closer and you may overload it. There is some noticeable background hiss during playback but for a typical application in a toy, it is probably not a big issue. The output volume is very good but you could obviously record the source from a little further away to reduce the playback volume. In any case, it may be muffled by the soft toy.If you record ten seconds of sound then it simply plays that ten seconds in a loop until you press the play button to stop it. The battery life is probably a few hours and definitely not four minutes (as per the spec).Considering the low price, ease of use and good volume output, I think this fun device is good value and I look forward to using it in a variety of ways.
