I'm pioneering converting a Sora road bike to a 1X setup. I have a set of Shimano Deore direct mount cranks that I'd like to use but they have a really small chainring.I got this chainring because it is a wide-narrow chainring and includes the direct mount adapter and matches the size I want to use, 40-teeth.Upon opening the package, I was surprised to see three items taped together. A 104BCD 40T chainring, a 104bcd direct mount adapter, and a set of chainring bolts.Initial impression are good. Each part looks to be well made. The chainring and direct adapter are made of aluminum, sand blasted and coated black, with laser etched graphics. They feel really high quality. The chainring bolts are stainless steel and bolt together smoothly. They are exactly the right length for mounting the chainring to the direct mount adapter.I weighed each of the components separately. The chainring is 71 grams. The adapter is 39 grams. And the chainring bolts are 19 for four bolts. That comes to a total of 129 grams, which is impressive given the price.
