After some careful researching online I finally ordered this to rekindle a long lost hobby from my childhood. Once upon a time, I was actually 'good' at yoyo tricks and was heartbroken upon recently rediscovering my old yo-yo to find it more cost effective to order a modern yo instead of recommissioning my old one.For your money, this new yoyo is brilliant. It's well made, easy to use straight out of the box / pouch and easy to convert to unresponsive. You won't be disappointed if you've had a history of yoyo-ing.But I feel I should do all parents a favour and warn that this is a solid item and definitely not for beginners - probably best used outdoor at the very least. Also, maybe I'm just a little too fast but it hurts your palm like hell when it returns to your hand after completing a number of tricks. No regrets from buying it but have ordered my 6 year old son a different style to practice with - but I have no doubts he'll love this one when he's more advanced.

The metal makes it seem like far more of a professional yoyo unlike the wooden and plastic ones. This made it much easier to perform tricks like "DNA" and "walking the dog" as well using it normally. When it hits the floor it makes a much louder noise that other yoyos as well as being more dangerous and heavier so I wouldn't really recommend for young kids. However the string it comes with unravels and knots really easily making it really hard to use the yoyo smoothly, and although this is my only complaint, this literally ruins the yoyo as a whole and causes it to be pretty much uselessFinally, it comes with replacement yarn, instructions and a nice case which is organised with a pocket making it good for travel.Overall, the yoyo is good but the string ruins it.

The rotation on this yoyo felt particularly slow, even as far as "Magic Yoyo" brand goes. Possibly this is due to the added inertia of the metal; or just luck-of-the-draw with the non-responsive bearings. It benefits from some grease / oil / WD40 on the bearings, although it is still some way from ideal. The bearings are interchangeable, so easy to switch between responsive and non-responsive.As always with Magic Yoyo products, there's a decent variety of accessories which are all of decent quality. As always with Magic Yoyo products - the strings are particularly twisty which leads to them trying to tangle themselves automatically, and results in persistant snagging and fouling (at least until they get worn in a bit and lose some elasticity). As always with Magic Yoyo products (and possibly down to these strings) - it has a habit of going off-balance and spinning off to the side and out of control. Its handling improves somewhat once it gets worn in from use.

When I describe this as a solid yo-yo, I don't just mean it's good. It's actually a really solid block of metal, which looks really well finished and will definitely survive a few accidental hits on the floor or wall unlike a plastic yo-yo, though I'm not sure the same can be said for the floor or wall! The overall package is good, with twelve strings in four different colours, a responsive and unresponsive bearing disc along with tools to swap them, and a very nice carrying case.I did find the string to be a bit problematic though. Each string is essentially a double twisted strand, and to attach it to the yo-yo, the instructions say to untwist the strands and put the yo-yo through the loop. This was easy to do, however the string didn't twist back together particularly neatly, and I needed to do a fair bit of smoothing to make it usable afterwards, and it is prone to twisting and gathering during use. The string just doesn't have the same premium feel as the yo-yo body, or the case, and would have preferred something sturdier.
