Installed on an old Traeger tailgater that only had the old p-setting control.Install was straightforward and easy, all plugs fit, sizing of the controller was great and it fit in the existing hole with no modifications.Temps are much more stable with the PID control, seems to burn cleaner / there's less ash to clean periodically, the response time of reading the temp is clearly better, and it's just overall nicer to use.My primary purpose when purchasing was to get better temp control, I've been satisfied with this controller.Only things I wish were changed:1. Lights stay on when it's turned to off, the only true way to turn it off is to unplug the smoker. While this is technically safer, I'd rather just leave it plugged in all the time, and have a main on off switch on the smoker itself. Not a big deal.2. I wish it had a 275 temp setting, again not a big deal.3. The clear cover on the controller can separate from heat, most of it stays on, but something that should be improved.

Instructions state to hold in f/c button with power off then turn dial to a temperature that corilates to the size of grill you have it installed on to set PID. Could not get that to work, you must hold that button while the grill is being plugged into power for it to work. Overall seems to be working after that now.

I bought this from my Traeger Pro 34 as I was having major temperature swings. My ignitor also failed so it was the perfect time to replace what I needed as I was already pulling it out. Here's what I think about the product.Fitment (5/5):This lines up perfectly with the old mounting holes for Traeger controller. Didn't need to trim any metal at all. All connectors were plug and play. Even included an adapter for the thermometer wires. Just make sure to read the manual to see what each plug will fit.Brightness (4/5):The panel brightness is VERY dim when looking head on, but it is made to be looked at from a downward. Once angling the panel downward, the brightness does increase and is very easy to read. This is a minor issues as I doubt I will be looking directly head on ever.Temperature and Control (3.5/5):Side note: *One of the things I read about was the auger and fans will shut off when desired temperature is reached. This is true and normal functioning, as the auger and will consistently turn and off to maintain temperature. I just wanted to get this out of the way before I started the temp and control portion.*Right away I noticed it does take a bit longer for the Traeger to get up to temperature, but it is more consistent when increasing in temperature. The unit monitors temp and will add pellets only when necessary every 10 seconds or so. I did not notice the temperature never went above the desired temp (ex: i set temp to 250F , never really went above 250F). The temp usually huddled under 250F, roughly around 240-245F ish, which is actually ideal for me. Once Traeger did hit 250F, I heard all fans shuts of and would pulse to maintain temp. This wasn't really ideal as after a minute or so, the temp would quickly dip down to about 230-235F ish. Roughly a +/- 15-20 degree drop. It did climb back up gradually. Unfortunately, I think this is an issue with the PID settings for setting the size of the grilling area, which I will address in the section below. After this test, I set the temp to 300F (there was no 275F setting, just 250F then 300F) to see how it did. I did walk away from this test for about an hour to see how it did. Once I came back, I saw the setting was about 287F if I remember correctly. I did feel like I should've stayed and watched it to see if it was dropping or maintaining temp, but I can do an update review later.P-setting and PID (1/5):Let me clarify by saying the P-setting gets a 5/5, while the PID setting gets a 0/5. I could not set the PID setting for the life of me. I followed the instruction manual exactly how it was stated and could not get it to set. In order, I did this:1. Plug in Machine2. Machine off, hold the C/F button3. While holding the C/F button, turn on the smoker.4. Set smoker to smokeThere are more steps after this once you enter the PID setting, but I was never able to get the PID setting to pop up. There is no on and off button (I may be blind, but I did not see one). The dial just says off and then you turn it to smoke. I'm not sure if the machine needs to be unplugged and then hold the button or what. I feel like this would've fixed the temperature control issue to set the unit for a bigger grilling area. The p-setting worked perfect though. Set my smoke setting to 5 and it was perfect.Beep noise (0/5):The beep noise is ungodly loud and annoying. There should be an option to turn it off. Nothing else to explain here.Overall, this unit ain't bad at all. The overall function works as intended, just minor issues with the settings. Hopefully manufacturer can get back to me with a solution for setting the PID setting appropriately. I can't speak for higher temperatures, as I don't use my traeger for anything over 250F (charcoal smoker/grill on hand), but it does work as intended for low and slow. I will update this review after this weekend. I plan on smoking a brisket at 225F.

The controller installed quickly and no problems, temperature control is way better. Only problem is I bought it because it said it had WiFi capabilities. It show in the description that it does. I tried to find manual and there is no website for the manufacture to get help or a manual.

I first off want to say how much I love this 600 series zgrill! It had been throwing intermittent HEr codes which result in the board reading a large fire in the grill. Ultimately it probably was just a dirty/fried thermometer. I decided to swap out both the board and thermometer. Great replacement and I would even consider it an upgrade from the original board. For me installing was pretty straight forward and I took my time as I cleaned some things up and wanted to do it right. It came with a small pamphlet that I understood. Grill starts right up and gets to desired temp quick! I also noticed a major difference in the fan not constantly high idling once desired temp is reached and actually just idles down to maintain temp. Big plus was the two additional probe ports included with this board to maintain temps in two separate portions of meat which the original board did not offer! The only thing that could be slightly better is the trimming of the control board to offer a more beveled and sealed fit to the pellet box it’s not a deal breaker by any means but would definitely make this board an all around grand slam. Overall not disappointed and would recommend for anyone looking to mod their pellet grill.
