The Box is sold as the Starterbox for 4th edition Flames of War, on the Cover it claims to be "the complete world war starter set", which in my opinion isnt the case. The box comes with 2 starter armies, arround 50 Pts, which is about half an army per faction, a few dice, one piece of terrain and a basic A5 core rule set, they put in every box set, and a few unit cards which will allow you to play the units in the box. What you dont get is tokens, a range ruler, templates and the actual rules to build an army. For that you need the D-Day American and D-Day German and/or the D-Day SS book. Also, the way list building works, you can mostly only use the units from the D-Day books, since many of them arent used in the Bulge books, which, in my oppinion, are significantl better and more commonly played, since they offer way more unit variety for each faction. I got the box cheap and I cant complain for what I got for the price, but if you compare it to other starter products, from other gaming systems and then look at the marketing claim on the actual box "the complete world war II starter set", it doesnt feel to me like this is what I have been sold, especially since you can get an army box that contains a complete 100 point army and a rulebook and the unit cards, so they are better starter products in my oppinion than the actual starter box and basically come with the same stuff, just for one faction. Another negative, my first box came with damaged sprues. they were flying arround all over the place in the box and had a lot of loose or even broken bits.

Starter set per Flames of War offerto spesso ad un prezzo molto competitivo (sui 50-60 euro, quando scende sotto i 50 è davvero ottimo).Il set include una cinquantina di punti per i tedeschi e altrettanti per gli americani. Nel dettaglio:Tedeschi:- 3 Panzer IV- 2 Plotoni di Panzergrenadier- 3 Pak 40USA:- 8 Sherman (3 76mm e 5 75mm)- 1 plotone di Parà USAOvviamente sono presenti i dadi, le carte con le caratteristiche delle unità e un pratico regolamento in formato A5.

Bought this for my Dad as a gift (not for Father’s Day, but just because I knew how much it meant to him). He had the original as a kid in the 60s and as a history buff it was great to see he was able to relive part of his childhood with it. Delivered faster than expected!

Die Box enthält alles, was man braucht, um in Flames of War V4 einzusteigen. Ob das Balancing bei der Box passt, klammere ich mal aus. Denn es geht ja nicht darum, ob die Box fair ist, sondern ob sie einem Anfänger die Regeln beibringen kann.Und das tut sie. Panzer, Geschütze, Infanterie, alles dabei.Die Regeln selbst sind in einem leicht verständlichen Englisch und die Illustrationen sehr hilfreich.Es ist komplexer als bspw. Warhammer 40k, aber das ist nun auch wirklich keine Kunst. Sobald die Regeln sitzen, ist das Spiel flüssig und actionreich.Die Miniaturen sind in gewohnter Battlefront-Qualität. Keine Beanstandungen.Wer also ein gutes Einstiegsprodukt in die V4 von Flames of War sucht oder einfach günstig an gute Miniaturen im 15mm / 1:100 Maßstab sucht, wird hier fündig.

Plenty of quality miniature figures, & AFV's. A great starter for any budding wargamer.The tile is a bit of a miss as there is no beach, should be called Paras hit Normandy.

Outstanding value. 111 tanks (three German, 8 American/British) two sets of infantry and two anti-tank guns for $50. Each tank purchased individually is usually $9-11 at the local shop. The quality of the models is standard for this company - very, very good. The big roadblock for getting into miniatures games lie Flames of War is the huge investment just to try it out. This relatively low-cost set solves that problem. In my opinion, you still need help figuring out how to assemble the American models, thre are several options to choose from and no advice is offered. Fortunately, there are groups on Facebook where there is plenty of advice available. I cannot emphasize enough what a terrific value this is.
