These allow for the deepest cut/break when compared to other standard nippers because the blades are further from the joint. This gives me better control of the direction the break. There is a small loss of leverage though, but it's well worth the greater control.

The way these are advertised and described as "nippers" and "shaping pliers" is VERY MISLEADING!These are absolutely nothing but glass cutting pliers at best. It is just a glass cutting wheel on both sides so you can score the glass on both sides for easier breaking. They are also a bit cumbersome for me...I tried them on some pieces of glass I have for stained glass, and guess what!? TOTALLY USELESS!!! They don't close all the way! Or even close to all the way, so that you can only use them on pieces of glass that are more than maybe 1/4inch thick??? I don't know the exact measurement... I just know that it didn't work on any of my glass for stained glass art that I have. So these were such a waste.Don't bother unless you want to be disappointed... or unless you actually need cutting pliers for thick glass...

I used the cutters for mosaic cutting on glass tiles and they are fine

I've wanted to purchase a glass cutting tool like this for a long time so when I saw this I had to grab it for a future hobby. I've seen that mostly in the $15 to 422 range so I wondered why this one was so expensive. Well, I got it and it's a massive, heavy-duty, heavy tool. I thought they would be kitchen scissors size but they are like way bigger and heavier. All metal solid. I already knew there is a learning curve with these nippers and will practice on some old tile before I start anything serious.
