I love the light from this modifier. The only issue is that if you use it on the Godox v1 flash, the soft box is big and can cover the flash sensor and it will not expose properly. Just keep an eye out for that issue if all a sudden your exposer is way off.

The Godox ML-CS1625 Light Tent offers a different take on the growing category of silicone light modifiers, the majority of which are more spherical in form factor. I particularly like the way that this product flattens for ease of carrying or storing. But the ability to rotate it to either a vertical or horizontal orientation is an interesting feature as well. I also like the flat front panel for extremely close use in macro photography, where it acts like a mini softbox, rather than a large round light bulb.I have been getting great results in a variety of tests on several lighting instruments, including the Godox TT685 speedlight, AD100, AD200 and the ML60IIBi COB LED light. With the choice of three supplied mounting adapters, the MLCS1625 Soft Tent mounts easily to these popular Godox products, but also to other Godox-mount devices, plus the ML30 and most rectangular speedlights. I should note that it will not accommodate the smaller Godox TT350.Some have noted a color temperature difference in the light coming off the back of the Godox Soft Tent. That may be, but since the flash (or LED) would have to be backed up quite close to a white wall to bounce any of that “off-color” light onto the subject being illuminated, I haven’t found it too concerning. If there is any tint affecting the light output, I can’t detect it.Compared to the soft boxes and/or umbrellas I normally use for portraiture, this is a small light source, so can’t be expected to produce as soft a portraiture light quality. In testing, though, I got interesting results with the ML-CS1625 very close to my portrait subject’s face, with a Dollar Store piece of white foamcore reflecting some fill light back from the other side. In the example test photo above, I put the diminutive Godox Lux Elf on a stand behind the subject’s head, facing forward. With it set on S1, it fired with the flash of the TT685 in the ML-CS1625 on camera right; a fun experiment, but it could be improved with a few more attempts.I’ve provided a few other photos lit by the ML-CS1625. Each was made using a Godox speedlight, with no ambient light added. The uses for the ML-CS1625 are myriad. It’s a great tool for events, but also for macro, product and food photography. Its video applications are equally varied. The Godox ML-CS1625 Soft Tent is a very affordable, easy-to-use problem solver that has quickly become a valuable addition to my most-often-used collection of photography and video tools. That deserves 5 stars!

Godox is a go to line for a number of photographic and photographiic support products. This is not one of them. As a 45 year professional photographer I am happy to see some of the new innovations that his reaching the market and making the craft that much easier to master. This silicon diffuser is a great concept, the inclusion of multiple mounting brackets make it next to obsolete proof but the execution is lacking. The front diffuser is held in place by two (2) plastic rivets we will call them and when the unit is folded and placed in the bag, you never know if you need to spend 5 oor 10 minutes to get the rivet type things attached and the diffuser set in the channel that runs around the unit. The globe version of this device is a better design and concept. If you think that the diffuser does a better job of controlling and diffusing the light than a traditional soft box, you have my blessings, go forth and do great things my friend. To me, this is a nearly $50 worthless piece of silicon. Fix the diffuser and maybe we can begin to have a conversation. And this is coming from a guy that has four (4) AD-200 Pocket flashes the round head attachments, the bare bulb attachments, a six (6) of the AD-360 Streetlights and associated attachments a couple of Li-on shoe mounted flashes and another half dozen of the AA 860s. So, there is no shortage of understanding of Godox products, it is clear and simple, BAD DESIGN!
