The Hoggatt Project

Infrared photography (and even video) is a fun topic to explore, and this filter allows you to do that without modifying your camera sensor. 760nm is one of the most popular choices because it still allows some of the color spectrum to punch through along with the infrared. This can make for a lot of interesting looking photos. This can also help you break free from any rut you may be in and revamp your passion for taking photos. The filter is easy to thread on and I haven't had any issues putting this onto any of my camera lenses. 77mm is a fairly common thread size, but you'll want to double check it's going to work for you and all the lenses you'd like to try it on. I can recommend this filter because it's thin, threads on smoothly and takes great images.

I am fairly knowledgeable regarding photography - but IR photography is an area of which I am lacking any knowledge. I picked up this filter thinking that I would figure it out fairly quickly - but even judging by the other reviews it is apparent that the proper use of this filter can't be easily determined.I'm not sure if I need to have one of my cameras modified - or if I need to learn how to properly shoot IR with an unmodified camera. It would seem that both methods have been successful for some users. From what I have gathered - a modified camera is the best way to do IR... so when my camera has been modified I'll try this again and come back to update this review.

I have been enjoying playing with this filter on my DSLR. These images were taken with a 50mm Nikkor f1.8 on a Nikon D7100 (APS-C). The difference came from playing with white balance and saturation. The last one was a 28mm set at f22 and set on my dashboard for a 20 minute drive home with the shutter open the entire time

This filter appears to be the advertised spectrum, though I have no way to be 100% certain, but it is without a doubt an IR filter. Only 4 stars because the glass element in the filter is very slightly loose and may end up moving or rattling in time.
