Makes our new bathroom look sleek and matches well with our Grohe shower spray, rain shower and multi-function control panel. The plate is a nice metal; the two protruding items are shiny plastic pieces, which do not seem hardy, hence the 4 stars.

I ordered this piece based on its look. Shortly after submitting the order to Amazon, I started regretting my decision, for I didn't know if there were plastic components in this expensive piece and for a handshower holder and union, it IS expensive, even if it were all metal. I tried to cancel it but it was too late. So I ordered an all metal piece made by Artois and planned to return the Grohe piece.The Grohe piece arrived today. The escutcheon, made of metal, is stunning. The union and the holder are made of plastic. They still look stunning. Now I have to wait till the much cheaper Artois piece arrives to decide whether to spend $400 (this Grohe piece + Grohe handshower rough in) or the $40 Artois piece. (Money isn't a concern to me but wasting money is.)I give 4 stars because a $200 simple piece has plastic caps.

Very expensive for what it does, but it matchd the rest of my fixtures so had to have it. Some components s are chromed plastic.
