I got these HSS #55 drills and immediately took one drill and made 5 holes in 3/8" thick 1018 steel. That depth is more than 7 time the drill diameter. The drill pulled long chips from the bottom of the hole at full depth. No discernable wear on the drill.I used a Bridgeport mill at high speed and used lubrication. So the conditions were pretty ideal but I could find nothing wrong with these drills, a good bargain at about $1 / drill.
