I only use silicone phone cases so that is what I've used this product with. I got my partner to 'pretend-steal' my phone and because of my silicone phone case, when he pulled on the phone the actual insert came out through the charging port stayed attached to the landyard round my wrist - meaning my phone was able to be snatched (although the phone fell to the floor in this scenario, a thief with a strong grip wouldn't have dropped the phone). The positive side of the product is that the landyard is very nice to hold and feels premium.I do think this solution would work well with a hard case which is why I've not given it 1 star, but obviously I haven't tried and tested it myself.

I decided that I needed to get a phone lanyard after recently watching CCTV video footage on the news of people having their phones snatched from their hands by thieves on bicycles with the thief making their escape before the victim could react. The incidents were in urban settings and I thought about how vulnerable I could be as I often use Google maps to find my way around when arriving by train in city centres. I have a cross body lanyard that is quite cumbersome but prefer this lanyard that fits unobtrusively on my wrist and can be conveniently unclipped and put in a pocket when not necessary.

Someone actually just tried to take my phone and the strap broke straight away - fortunately my husband was there and got it back. May be ok as a visual deterrent but isn't strong enough to actually work I'm afraid. I'm very lucky to still have my phone!
