*Maintenance paged over the loudspeaker by an Operator*Maint:What happened?Op:I dunno, the machine just didn't do stuff so adjusted the hydraulic pressure and moved that sensor. It pressed the bearing on a few times but then now, you are here and its broken.Maint:Did you check your parts being run?Op:Why no, they are perfect it cant be that!Maint:Hmmm, the gauge here says your bore is 11 thou undersized. No wonder why it wouldn't press on! Well, that's also strange, your box of finished goods only has the bearing pressed halfway on.Op:Well yeah, that's why I moved the sensor so it would pass it!This inductive PNP Normally Closed sensor has industrial type specs provided with it. It conforms to an M8 threaded barrel format with sensing area being the face end. It's sense range is 1.5mm. It exhibits a flying lead connection style.This is a DC rated prox sensor that normally functions on 24 volts. I use this at home with12 volts and it functions with that voltage too. The tag on mine states the functioning voltage range is between 10-30VDC, but if you look at the tag shown here online it states 6-36vdc which is a bit of a reach. 10-30 is standard across the industry that I am accustomed of.Since this a normally closed (NC) sensor. It will indicate the following way: When powered (Brown is +VDC and Blue is com or 0 VDC) and not triggered by a dog or metal object its LED is ON. The Black wire will have voltage in this state as well. When a dog is within 1.5mm or a metal object is within 1.5 mm of the face of sensor then the LED light is OFF and the black wire will not have voltage in this state.These sensors are the inverse of NO (normally Open) type sensors. They are not commonly used, but NC prox sensors have their use. In security systems they are used often with magnetic reed type sensors. Why? A door can contain a magnet, when the door is closed it will trigger the sensor located in the jamb of door...there is no path for an electric circuit in that state. The door opens and the sensor now closes, sending power to the alarm bell or it sends a signal silently to the authorities. NC is preferred as if thieves cut the sensor wire to trick the system it will alarm as the circuit opens.Be aware that NC sensors indicate opposite of NO type sensors. This can be problematic if used interchangeably in a machine. Troubleshooting that machine takes a longer time as visually it appears to be on, while in reality it is not. Looking at you Mazak!These Heschen sensors are quite good for use at home if you know how to incorporate them. Their value compared to others is remarkable. There are many types to choose from: Inductive, Capacitive, shielded or non shielded. Standard is metric threads. Typical size range M8 and M12. Three wire and two wire, some four wire where you have both NC and NO provided. QC or quick connect sensors are nice in a factory where damaged ones are changed out from being broken by our fellow knowledgeable operators.

Die Näherungsschalter ersetzen 6 alte Sensoren an unserer CNC-Portalfräse. Zuletzt gab es da immer wieder irgendwelche Fehlschaltungen und Wackelkontakte.Die 6 eingebauten Näherungssensoren von Heschen arbeiten einwandfrei und die gelegentlichen Probleme mit der Maschine sind nun vorbei.
