I've been watching Kurzgesagt for quite some time now and I've always been fascinated by their work. This book is no different. Just like their videos, this book upholds the values of Kurzgesagt. The book explains the very complex topic in a very simple and fun to read language that goes easy on the mind of any reader.It's made of high quality paper and the visuals are appealing to the eyes, just like their videos. I'm not even studying Biology, I bought this book purely out of curiosity and while I expected it to quite difficult to keep up with, it's the exact opposite. With each page I just want to read further without stopping.For anyone who wants to know about the immune system, this book is probably the best way to start as it gives you a glimpse of the vast (and apparently mind-numbing) world of immunology in a very fun manner and a very easy to understand manner ;)

Wow! I haven't been able to put this book down! It had a lot of great reviews and I was taken in by the example pages in the description.The way this book is written is witty, interesting, manageable even when some things get a little complicated and full of fun facts and footnotes. I am almost considering a PhD as I've been so drawn in by the world of my immunity!I'd like to shake the author's hand and thank him for making such a complex system exciting to read about. His enthusiasm is palpable and infectious (excuse the pun there!) and what with hot dog buns and chimpanzees with machine guns (yes, they are real examples from the book!) I wanted to learn more and more and more!A real page-turner! Highly recommended 👍

O livro é fundamental para quem acompanha o canal Kurzgesagt, pois traduz a mesma combinação de rigor científico, criatividade e acessibilidade que torna o canal fascinante. Com explicações claras e exemplos instigantes, a obra desmistifica conceitos complexos e os torna compreensíveis, mantendo o leitor engajado e curioso do início ao fim. Fantastic book with beautiful and informative illustrations. It really feels like a very long, very thoroughly researched Kurzgesagt-Video and its apparent just how much love and dedication went into creating the book. I bought the hardcover-version for my bookshelf but recommended the book to my friend, who got the softcover and both versions are well manifactured and beautiful. One thing that I prefer about the softcover though, is that the pages in the hardcover are very glossy and school-book-like, whereas the softcovers pages are matt. But thats personal preference, so 10/10 book, would and have recommended.

I really well written book, basically exactly what you'd expect from one of the best you tube channels in the world.The immune system is super complicated, but this book really breaks it down so even someone without any prior knowledge can understand everything. It goes very in depth too so it's great even if you already know a lot about the immune system.Last but not least, it's simply written well. regardless of wether you learn something or not (and you will learn lots) it's still fun to read.I absolutely recommend this book!

I have a lot of respect for people who can take complicated topics and explain them in layman terms. So when I saw that the creator of the YouTube channel Kurzgesagt wrote a book, I had to read it. And it did not disappoint.The machinery behind the immune system is incredibly complex, and yet, the book made me understand it at a high level. It starts with the basics: what are cells and proteins, what is the job of the immune system and what cells play a role in it. Then, it explains how the different type of immune cells work together to protect our body from intruders.And finally, the author addresses what can happen if your immune system gets it wrong. What if it attacks our own cells? What happens when someone suffers from allergies? How does cancer evolve and why doesn't everyone get it?I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, and took SO many notes! I now know the fundamental mechanisms that keep me alive, and I understand what happens inside my body when I get sick or suffer from an infected wound. I can picture the soldiers of my immune system going to battle while I'm laying sick on the couch.The only thing I found a bit weird was that the book uses imperial units instead of metric. Scientific material, even if it's intended for "amateurs", should stick to metric!
