I got my first pair of Koss Porta Pros I got as a teen over 15 years ago, it felt like 2 pairs in that time lasted me about 10 years.I don't know what happened but I go through these things like crazy now (note: insane thing to say about a $100 pair of headphones). I love how they sound, fit, look, feel, but I've literally had four pairs/cables in the last 18 months. When I saw their new design featured a replaceable cable, I immediately knew it was because you run through cables like you soldered it yourself in shop class. I positively baaaaaby these things and still I'll be on the subway and one will just go out, I'll go to pick up a call and the mic has stopped working.I wrote an email to the company in October after this cable lasted me a little over a month and they sent me a full replacement set - that pair has cacked out too, lasting just slightly longer at 7 weeks (new record!).I don't know what to say because they sound great and I've used them for half my life but daaaaaamn, besides the obvious money you're wasting, it's insane to create this much e-waste.My suggestion would be if you've never had a pair, don't start buying them now because you'll fall in love with them and then be stuck in this insane loop where you're buying another cable every 2 months because you love the sound so much that you've decided to make the (literally insane) decision to treat them like you would a disposable razor.Close your tab now while you can!

I got this with a pair of kph40s as a bundle and I am very pleased with the sound - when I can get sound coming through both channels..... With my cable I have to have the connection rotated *just so* and make sure there isnt any bending force on the connection or I will lose audio in one or both ears. Very annoying! And because I got it in the bundle and they don't seem to offer replacements, my only options are to get a refund for the discounted price and then buy one at full price (which is wayyyy too much money........) or try and fix the issue myself.I am going to try to fix it and I will probably ruin it in the process XDI think there might just be too much plastic material around the plug area so it cant plug in quite all the way. I will try filing the plastic down first and I will update this review if that works and I remember to update this review.UPDATE: I cut away what I thought was excess plastic and rubber and this only made the problem worse. Now in order to get sound to both sides I need to bend the connection with considerable force. The solution was to cut a splint out of a colored pencil and wrap it very tightly with some duct tape.Sounds great!!!! The DAC seriously makes a huge improvement for the sound, but it was broken from day 1. I would have said it's worth the steep price if it worked without... (see attached photo)

This USB C cord works fine but I wish I didn't need it because it was about the same price as the headphones (Koss KPH40) when I bought it. Unfortunately my phone has no headphone jack and I wanted to use the KPH40 headphones with my phone while on the go so didn't have much choice unless I bought and even more expensive portable dac/amp instead.
