Acuttley pretty soild lense. Pictures seem somewhat sharp. I was kinda scared of the quailty it seemed pretty good. Tho beware ypu need to learn to do manual forcus fast if u wanna do wild life. Also you cant zoom and forcus at same time you have to zoom then lock then forcus. But honestly suprised of what quailty you get from the money you pay. Also it seems it got a build in sun blind. To stop you from getting sun into your lense and getting lense flare. Also if i am able to edit my review ill post some pictures soon from it. I have tried it off but no pictures i wanna publish.

Buena compra. No me arrepiento.

As a photographer who's always looking for an affordable way to capture distant subjects, the Lightdow 420–800mm F8.3 Telephoto Lens is an intriguing option, especially for those using Nikon DSLRs like the D850. However, this lens is not without its challenges, and it’s important to know what you’re getting into before purchasing.Build Quality & DesignThe Lightdow 420–800mm lens is fully manual, which means you’ll need to adjust both the focus and aperture yourself. This is not a deal-breaker, but it does require more effort and practice, especially for those who are new to manual lenses. The build is lightweight and primarily constructed from plastic, which contributes to its affordable price. While this makes it easy to carry around, the trade-off is in durability—especially with prolonged use. It's not weather-sealed or built to withstand harsh conditions. Given its price point, this isn't surprising, but it's something to keep in mind, particularly if you're using it in challenging environments.Performance & HandlingAt 800mm, this lens has an extremely narrow field of view. Hitting the focus sweet spot can be quite tricky, and even the slightest movement can throw the subject out of frame. I've found that using a tripod is absolutely necessary to stabilize the lens. Even so, achieving sharp focus requires a steady hand, patience, and practice. The long focal length amplifies any camera shake, making the use of a remote shutter release or timer essential when shooting at 800mm.One of the biggest hurdles with this lens is the minimal focus plane at 800mm, meaning you need to be very precise with your focusing. Since it is a fully manual lens, there’s no autofocus to help out here. This can be frustrating, but it’s also a great way to develop your skills in manual photography. The more you use it, the more you get accustomed to the small adjustments required to capture the perfect shot.Image QualityThis lens can produce surprisingly good results, especially given its price. I’ve captured some distant shots that I couldn’t have taken with any of my other lenses, particularly when it comes to wildlife and nature photography. However, it’s not without its flaws. Even when you get the focus just right, the sharpness at 800mm can be a bit lacking. There’s also noticeable chromatic aberration (color fringing), especially in high-contrast scenes. At 420mm, the aperture is around F8.3, which already limits the amount of light hitting the sensor. By the time you zoom in to 800mm, you're working with an F16 aperture, which makes it difficult to shoot in anything other than bright daylight. Low-light performance is poor, and using a higher ISO to compensate introduces noise into the images. That said, if you're working with good light and can take your time setting up your shot, you can get some decent results.Best Use CasesThis lens shines when used in bright, outdoor environments where you have control over your setup. Wildlife photography and distant landscapes are where this lens is most effective. It’s not a lens you’d want to use in fast-paced situations, but for stationary subjects or those that move at a predictable pace, like birds or animals in a zoo, it can be fun to experiment with. For those who are looking to improve their skills with manual focus and learn the nuances of handling long telephoto lenses, this is an affordable way to get started. However, it’s definitely not a lens for beginners or those who want quick, easy results.Pros:- Affordable for an 800mm lens.- Good for stationary wildlife or distant subjects in bright conditions.- A great tool for learning and practicing manual focusing.- Can achieve photos that would otherwise be impossible at this focal length.Cons:- Fully manual operation means a steep learning curve.- Narrow depth of field at 800mm makes focusing tricky.- Poor low-light performance due to small aperture at max focal length (F16 at 800mm).- Image sharpness could be better, with some chromatic aberration noticeable.- Build quality feels cheap, and the lens is not weather-sealed or particularly durable.Final ThoughtsThe Lightdow 420–800mm F8.3 Telephoto Lens is a budget-friendly option for those who want to experiment with long telephoto shots. It’s far from perfect, and its manual focus will require patience and practice. However, once you get the hang of it, you’ll be able to capture distant subjects that would otherwise be out of reach. If you’re serious about improving your manual photography skills and don’t mind working around its limitations, it’s a fun lens to use. Just don’t expect the same quality or ease-of-use as more expensive telephoto lenses from well-known brands like Nikon or Tamron.

Bisogna adattarsi in questi casi.
