As a former Porsche Rolex Series Factory mechanic, any true DIY knows, that ...."unlike" with the OJ trial.....when it comes to parts, especially critical ones such as high pressure fuel filters, especially expensive German diesel engines, both in racing and trial..."they must fit". (Sorry. ..with a smirk)Like in my wife's 2015 Touareg TDI 3.0, it's one of the most critical filters and or items on the engine, that must regularly be serviced. This will shield the the engine and fuel system form contamination and prevent the potential of catastrophic failure. The filter is utilizes a synthetic "fixed o-ring" seal system and the fit is absolutely perfect and or factory.So...thanking baby Jesus that my income does not come via comedy. ..here are some quick tips that will help with the service and provide you with a fuel system flush and that will keep the engine clean and running perfectly and this should be done every 10K:1. Allow engine to be off for at least 15 minutes. This will allow the fuel pressure to be at zero and sufficient cooling off for service.2. Wrap the fuel filter canister with absorbant shop rags, just below the seal location. This will absorb any potential spill during service.3. After removing hardware, there's still sufficient and or significant suction on the unit so the lid or top will not release. By using a flat scraper (screwdriver can also be used ) carefully work into the lid area and carefully free the lid by both using a lifting pressure with the opposite hand and a gentle twisting motion with the scraper or driver.4. By having both the shop rags and also using a fluid suction unit to sneak into the canister, will prevent the diesel from spilling.5. After suctioning all of the fluid, carefully and vertically remove the filter.6. Inspect the container for debris, clean/suction and replace the filter into the canister.7. Fill slightly below rim, with Sea Foam. This will force safe solvent into the first initial engine start and will behave as a fuel system (mostly injectors and burn chamber) cleaner and remove deposits.8. Replace canister top and manually work torx screws in by hand. Torque to specs and do so in small increments via a "star" configuration.9. Allow the pump to build pressure (do not start just turn on ignition and listen for pump..do this twice)10. Start engine and hold throttle at 1950k to 2000k RPM. Hold throttle at this stage for 60 seconds. This will allow the cleaner to force through the system and also behaves as a purge for the fuel system.11. Remove rags and manually inspect for leaks by (engine still running) and placing fingers around the seal area.Hope this helps.
