I had very low expectations but these things are working amazingly! I literally see paw prints on the lids of my trash cans, but they are unopened!

Excellent product! We used one strap on each of our two city issued garbage cans. They stay put and are strong, yet easy to remove to put garbage in the cans. You do not have to remove the whole strap to use the can. You only remove the handle part, lift the lid to throw away the garbage, then place the handle back under the lid rim. Very easy and holds strong enough to keep out racoons!

We have one of the largest raccoons I've had the misfortune of running into that likes to dine from our garbage can, and since adding these that animal seems to have been beaten in the war of keeping the garbage can closed. I tried a few logs and a concrete paving stone to thwart the bandit, but this thing is the Hercules of trash pandas and managed to get in despite my efforts. This strap holds much tighter than those two attempts and seems to be thus far be the working solution to keep that rotund mammal out of my garbage. The elastic is very nice for being able to remove these straps once adjusted for a tight fit, and the metal hooks with their rubberized coating are very strong.I give it 5 stars because so far, so good, but the jury is out on if the elastic straps will hold up to UV and heat exposure in direct sunlight for a few hours a day going into the future.

Our current trash bin lid doesn't always close straight and securely which leaves a gap for flies to get in. I suppose small rodents might also nose their way in but I haven't seen any evidence of that yet. The flies are bad enough. We've also had our bin blown over by strong winds.I ordered the 2PCS Metal Double-Claw Trash Can Lock Strap for Animals,Bungee Cord Garbage Bin Lock,Outdoor Racoon Garbage Can Lid Lock Straps to Keep Racoons,Trash Can Bin Lid Locks Outside [Blue Hooks] to address these issues. It really doesn't get more simple than this. The two straps are elastic yet strong. The plastic covered metal hooks anchor the straps securely to the bin and have no rough edges. Each strap has a buckle for adjusting the length but I found that they were already adjusted to the optimal length for my bin right out of the box. I put them on and took them off again to see how difficult it would be or if there was potential for injury. Because the straps are elastic, it was no problem stretching and unhooking them and no injuries were sustained. Because other members of my family will be doing this I wanted to make sure it was easy and safe to do. I put them back on, snapped a few pictures, and I was done. There's not much more to be said. They're good and they work.
