Finally! I’ve been in search of a release cable that was smartphone compatible, giving me a backup option when I may not have remembered to pack my shutter remote.The software works as advertised and the ability to use the smartphone’s sensors for triggering could result in some creative shooting scenarios. Customization is surprisingly extensive; far better than I’d expected. The MIOPS Mobile software is free and you can download it to check it out before buying the cable.The cable itself is pretty basic. A 1 meter coiled section with 90-degree, 2.5mm plugs at both ends and a 10 cm dongle with 2.5mm jack at one end and 3.5mm plug at the other. Assembly is pretty obvious. For iPhone users, you’ll need a headphone adapter to connect the 3.5mm plug to the Lightning port if your device is an iPhone 7 or newer.All of the signal electronics are in the short dongle, so you can replace the coiled section with any 2.5mm audio cable you want if you need extra length or dislike coiled cables.The poles are all TRS standard, so any cable that meets the standard can be used interchangeably as long as you use the short dongle. When it comes to Fujifilm cameras, you MUST use the small dongle or errors will occur while shooting.I originally feared the software would work with any adapted cable, so I tried it. At least on my Fujifilm cameras, this isn’t so... you need this kit to activate autofocus and trigger the shutter reliably. I’m guessing the dongle amplifies the trigger signal but this is purely speculation; I haven’t disassembled it to find out how it works.Honestly though, for less than $40 the kit isn’t what I would call “overpriced.” It does exactly as it says it will do and for less than the Fujifilm branded wired shutter remote. Worth it to carry in my jacket pocket as a backup remote shutter release, especially with the included release options and sensor capabilities.

I have a pulse which is a good intervalometer with bluetooth connection but it disconnects and is finicky. this is a simple idea connecting to your phone with simple controls. well worth the minor cost for a dependable solution. I couldnt find much as far as directions or tutorials but a little playing around and it becomes very simple.
