Nice that these came with the cable they need. That older style isn't so common these days, but these units worked perfectly.

Bootloader installed, just plug in and use Arduino IDE and program a sketch.The LAFVIN seems to use a blink code without a bootloader.You can't write a sketch without writing a bootloader first.Wayne

now, I'm not really an expert on this, but after doing some research, I realized it didn't follow Arduino or Atmel's schematics. it was missing out on a bunch of key features (from what I understand) like what looks like, surge/polarity error protection, and while you get 2kb of space instead of 1kb, it comes at the sacrifice of proper communication. I can barely get programs into it. it's always like a trial-and-error situation. The chip also didn't have its own RTC crystal, which concerns me, be cause RTCs are usually used for timing certain time-sensitive applications, like serial communication. overall, something just doesn't feel right.
