While the build quality appears to be high quality, this unit does not properly mount to my Wooden Camera Safety Nato rail. It has approx 0.5mm of play when the locking clamp is fully engaged. JUST shy of being able to lock onto the rail. It locks fine onto the included hot shoe NATO rail, HOWEVER, this accessory is useless to me, as it doesn't securely stay attached to my camera's hot shoe or the cold shoe on the side of my SmallRig cage... Unless I am missing something?I do not have a DJI gimbal which is mentioned in this product description, so I am sure my use case is more niche.I will say that the locking/un-locking action of this V-Mount is much better than the action on my NEEWER Mini V Mount Battery Plate with Wide Super Crab Clamp. The lock/un-lock action is on-par with SmallRig V-Mount adapters.

This V mount plate is much smaller than traditional V mount plate and that allows more flexible attachment points. For example, I can attach this to RS3 Pro gimbal and have a V-mount provide some counter weight to the camera. This is a great idea but it may require the large 'Pro' gimbal to have enough clearance to fit this plate and the V-mount battery. This works on the RS3 Pro with mini V-mount batteries from Smallrig and Neewer.

The anti-drop lever does not function properly. The price is steep for a V-lock battery mount.

Neewer’s Mini V Mount Battery Plate is a clever, nicely articulated and fabricated gadget that has much more versatility than is implied by Neewer.Neewer has designed and marketed the Mini Mount to enable the mounting of a V-Mount battery onto a camera gimbal, referencing DJI gimbals. Besides that, however, the detachable V plate, with 1/4" threads, can be attached to almost anything with matching 1/4" threads, for example a camera cage. It also features a cold shoe mount attached to a sliding, locking plate, allowing for the balancing of an attached power supply while on a gimbal. On the other hand, the cold shoe adapter allows the entire Mini V Mount to be attached to anything with a cold shoe, for example the top handle of a cage; capisce? It’s a versatile contraption.Furthermore, the rail clamp of the Mini V Mount fits a standard NATO Rail. So, instead of using the sliding plate with the attached cold shoe, the Mini V Mount can be clamped to any accessory NATO Rail, essentially allowing it to be attached anywhere a NATO Rail can be attached. Again, this little device is far more versatile then Neewer lets on.The only aspect of the Mini V Mount that baffled me is the “V Mount Lock Switch,” shown on an illustration on the point-of-purchase page labelled “Product Features;” it’s the circular red lever. The obvious implication is that it is used to lock in the V Mount plate, sitting above the lever. In practice, I haven’t found the V Mount Lock Switch to do anything. And it definitely doesn’t lock in the plate, whether it’s in the locked or unlocked position.I own several Neewer accessories and, like the Mini V Mount Battery Plate, have found their quality to be of a consistently high standard, and often times, as in the case of the Mini V Mount, innovative and practical. It can be used to attach both V Mount batteries and NP-F batteries with an accessory NP-F battery adapter plate. In terms of build quality, design and function, the Neewer Mini V Plate is 5-Stars. I’m rating it four stars because I have no idea whether the one I received is defective, or I’m missing something, in the use of the aforementioned locking lever.
