Just about everything Onewind does is magic. I have a lot of their products, including the poncho tarp, hammock, hammock sock, and hammock chair/gear sling/rain cover. This is a very large cape that folds down to a very light and compact package. Some might decry the lack of arm sleeves, but this is not insurmountable. You are better protected without them, but if you need to slide your arms out to do a task, you should have a piece of shock cord to use as a makeshift belt around the cape to make it more poncho-like.This item is far superior to poncho tarps, of which I have more than a dozen of various brands. One way to use it in a downpour, if you need to rest, is to use it in combination with a backpacking chair rather than as a tent. Just drape it over and you're ready to rest, nap, or even move out in a hurry if you need.Another way is suspended over an ultralight hammock, assuming you have trees nearby and there is no lightning danger. One legitimate question is how it performs against a similar and earlier product, such as the OneTigris tentsformer. The tentsformer is larger, heavier, and slightly more utilitarian, but between the two they are very similar and priced within $10-15 of each other. You can't go wrong with either one.

For years I have used a high quality 4½ x 7" rectangular tarp, as an emergency shelter in my ultralight survival pack, my setup is a small military style shoulder bag, made of reinforced nylon that's equipped with mollie attachment points and many individual compartments. I've managed to keep this bag under 9lbs, but still loaded with reliable survival gear for most emergency scenarios, the tarp set-up that I originally used, offered some protection from the elements, when used as a lean-to, or draped over some paracord as a traditional triangler shape tent, but in both cases only offered limited rain protection as the sides were always open to windy conditions. So I started researching other alternatives, and this: One wind survival shelter/poncho, peaked my interest... what a sensible purchase, it offers far better weather protection due to its inherent shape, is lighter, strong and more compact than any conventional tarp, and then doubles as a no nonsense poncho with a zipper, adaptable draw string hood and clips to increase real life protection in a heavy down pour. If you are in the market for a high-end, no nonsense, reusable quick shelter, for a bug-out bag, day hiking, or survival pack don't waste your time on anything else. I highly recommended this product.

I think it’s great for a survival or ultralight backpacking situation. A lot of bug nets don’t have a floor, but having a floor is what I like the most about this one. It could be a stand alone shelter in nice weather where wind and rain aren’t issues. I’m thinking of setting this up on top of my cot!
