They are amazing. I’ve been using them for all winter and they keep me warm and dry. It’s been -4°C and they are perfect. They keep me dry during light rain for long time. I did realize that they could get wet if you are in heavy rain during 1 hour while riding a bike.If you are not using them for that, they are perfect. I wash them normally and they have never lost the waterproof layer.I love them and I intend on buying more but different colours. They are really comfortable, they look sharp and not informal, and at the same time not like those bulky snow pants. The pockets are big enough and have zippers. They let you breath and don’t feel suffocating unless you’re in a pretty warm room.

After extensive use across various environments—urban commutes, heavy rain walks, frosty hill climbs, and several bone-cold mornings spent crouched under a leaking shed roof—I can confidently say these Outdoor Ventures fleece-lined waterproof trousers are more than just a seasonal gimmick. They’re a genuinely practical, performance-worthy option for cold, wet British weather, especially if you’re outdoors for extended periods or need a warm base that doesn’t look like it belongs exclusively on the slopes.First and foremost, the warmth is immediate and sustained. The inner fleece is soft to the touch, dense enough to trap heat effectively, and remains comfortable even after hours of wear. Unlike thinner lined trousers that cool down as soon as you stop moving, these maintain insulation during still, cold conditions—perfect for slower activities like fishing, wildlife photography, or working on outdoor tasks. On windy days, they’ve done an excellent job of shielding my legs from chill; the outer shell doesn’t flap or breathe excessively, which suggests decent wind resistance for a softshell fabric.Water resistance is also very good, especially given the price point. I’ve stood in steady rain, brushed past wet bushes, and knelt in slush without feeling any seep-through. While they’re not fully waterproof in a torrential downpour or when submerged for long, they comfortably handle standard British winter weather: drizzle, sleet, snow, and occasional sideways rain. The 8000mm waterproof rating seems realistic in real-world use. After walking 45 minutes in light rain, my base layers were still bone dry—a critical feature when you don’t want to spend the day damp and miserable.Comfort and mobility are equally impressive. The stretch in the fabric allows for kneeling, climbing, and sitting without that tight, restrictive feeling some winter trousers give around the thighs and knees. The darting around the knees and the slight give at the waistband make these ideal for more physical movement—whether that’s hill walking or simply crouching in the shed to fix something in winter gloves. The Velcro waist adjustment is effective; I can wear these over thermal underwear or just a regular base layer and still get a snug fit. No slipping down, no digging in, and no need to wear a belt unless you want to.The pocket layout is sensible and secure. All four zippered pockets are deep and reliable, large enough to store gloves, keys, a phone, or even a small notebook without risk of anything falling out. The zips are smooth and easy to operate, even with cold fingers. I especially like the positioning: nothing bulks out awkwardly or feels misplaced when walking or sitting, which is a common issue with many “outdoor” trousers that overdo the utility look.In terms of sizing, I found them true to fit, although if you’re between sizes or prefer a looser cut, it’s worth sizing up, particularly if you plan to layer underneath. The expandable waistband compensates well, but the fit is tailored enough that larger calves or thicker thermals might benefit from the extra room. The leg length (inseam roughly 28") fits me well at 180cm height—neither bunched up nor too short.Washability is another strong point. After muddy walks and winter hikes, I’ve machine-washed them several times on a cold gentle cycle with no degradation to the fleece lining, no bobbling, and no noticeable loss in water resistance. They dry surprisingly fast for their thickness and don’t lose shape or structure when line-dried indoors, which makes them ideal for quick turnaround between uses.If there’s a downside, it’s that these are clearly autumn/winter trousers. On warmer spring days or under high-output activities (like steep inclines or fast-paced hikes), they can become a bit too warm. The breathability is decent but not as good as a high-end hiking trouser, so I wouldn’t recommend them for mild climates or intense exertion. Additionally, while the fabric handles light brush contact well, it’s not as rugged as canvas or heavyweight technical gear—so for very rough terrain or work involving thorns, barbed wire, or kneeling on gravel, you may eventually wear through the outer layer. The style is neutral enough for everyday wear, especially in black or dark grey. I’ve worn them into town, on the school run, and even on a casual coffee walk without looking like I’m heading to the Arctic. There’s none of the plasticky sheen or over-designed branding that makes some outdoor trousers feel out of place off the trail.Overall, these trousers are a bit of a cold-weather secret weapon. For anyone who needs warm, water-resistant legwear that feels like actual clothing (not just gear), they hit a sweet spot of value, performance, and comfort. They’re excellent for dog walking, allotment work, snowy hikes, or just staying warm and dry in unpredictable UK winter weather. I’ve worn them in frost, in rain, and even in light snow—and they’ve held up beautifully. If you’ve been disappointed by cheap fleece trousers that turn soggy or cold after an hour, or by stiff overtrousers that rustle like bin bags, this is a far more grown-up, practical, and frankly satisfying solution.

Very good quality thermal and waterproof trousers. I bought these for snowboarding and they got very wet, but stayed dry and warm on the inside, they will also be perfect for winter wearing outdoors. Great fit and look really good

I ordered a men’s 30 waist which my son usually wears but an XS / 30 was sent so I’m wearing them and it’s a snug fit on me and I wear a US size 4/6.
