An impressive compass that when used, makes it look as though you know what you are doing. In addition, you also get a whistle and a credit card multitool. The latter of which seems of little use. The compass also comes with a basic canvas pouch which can be slid onto your belt and should keep the compass dry.The compass itself is metal, which makes it heavy (161g), but also fairly robust and has a lanyard so it can be hung around you neck when not in its pouch. The compass can be tripod mounted, has a level and various viewing options. Its good and easy to use, but unless you are a serious explorer or doing your Duke of Edinburgh award are you really going to use it, when most mobile phones have a compass. Having said that you don’t have to worry about this compass running out of power.

Military style compass, order arrived on time and well packed. I tested this item versus other compasses I own and it returned the same results, which was good. It's a very chunky design, designed for orienteering, and hiking in general. The compass feels well made, and compact, if not a little heavy. Personally I found it easy to read, and use, also supplied with a storage pouch, and whistle.5/5 At the time of this review, £9.99 delivered.

I do a lot of hiking and am one of the declining number of people who can still read and use a map.First the bad parts. The instructions have errors in them but are OK. The tables on the back of the compass are tiny and not really readable. Pouch is OK but is clearly built to a budget. Awful multitool the blade on it had a huge burr on it, I can not imagine using any of the tools on it when in circs that I need the compass. The whistle is OK, much better ones are available. The Compass. Apart from some of the choices of material it is good, a bit heavy but about the right size.It was easy to read either on a map or when sighting which was very easy in daylight. The moving parts all seem good I think it will last well in normal use.I think it looks good and if the value is good for you it will be a great starter compass for a newcomer to learn the skills. I will be leaving it in my emergency kit in my car that I have in case I get stuck in the hills.

I recently tried out this outdoor metal compass and found it to be quite heavy. I'm not sure of the benefit over a plastic compass, as this one might rust over time with exposure to the elements. It doesn’t state the composition of the metal, so it could be prone to rusting, which is a concern.Aside from that, the quality seems good. It includes a sighting lens, ruler, and whistle, which are handy features. However, for my needs, I prefer a lighter unit for my backpack—weight is important when you’re out hiking.
