I guess I should have paid more attention to some of the other reviews: they were right! Bought this item, properly CLEANED the surface before attaching it. It lasted all of a month before it just fell off! There is only one “older” adult male in this house and he is old enough that he prefers to “sit” (his legs just don’t like standing for any length of time). He is NOT a messy guy when it comes to this, but he also wanted the “assurance” that he wasn’t making a mess for anyone else. The shield itself seemed to be a decent quality, but the adhesive is NOT as good as they claim!

It was easy to install, and has the added benefit of being easy to wash. It worked perfectly. My husband actually liked it a lot -- especially because he expected something that was large and obvious. It's neither, but it definitely does the job. Thank!

This is easy to install. The magnet attachment is very smart. And it is easy to clean -- you can easily take it off to clean and easy to put back on. BUT this did not really quite fit our toilet. It was a tight fit that had to push the seat down. And its corners are sharp. Sit on toilet and those corners can poke into you. Had to cut and file down those corners to get any safe use of this. And since it was tight fit where had to push down the seat, then it could come slightly off the magnet and then afterwards you have to lift the seat to put the shield back on its magnet. Two stars for yes can get some use out of this. But mark down two stars because have to modify it (cut and file down the corners) to get any safe use out of it. And, sorry, have to mark down one additional star because doesn't really quite fit our toilet. But this was cheap and not a big loss.

The deflector is supposed to adhere a metal strip to the underside of the toilet seat, using clever magnetic attachment for removal and cleaning. Seems very sturdy.For our seat however, it could not be attached. The design expects the underside of the seat to be very flat. Our seat has a curved underside which meant it couldn't be fastened securely. The adhesive strip it came with was so firmly attached to the peel-off cover that it tore the strip off the metal plate.Promising design, but only for seats it would fit.
