Perfektes Packmass für Freerider und Skitourengeher. Passt in jeden Rucksack und aussen stört er sowieso nicht. Ist sehr leicht, man kann ihn eigentlich immer für den Notfall mitführen. Von seiner Grösse ist er wirklich eher für den Notfall, oder kurze Sachen im sehr sehr steilen Gelände gedacht.Finde ihn aber wieder zu kurz,um ihn ausschliesslich für längere Aufstiege bei Hochtouren oder Skihochtouren zu verwenden. Da lohnt es sich schon einen etwas längeren Pickel dabei zu haben.

Der Ride von Petzl passt super in den Rucksack und bringt auch gerade mal knapp etwas mehr als 200 g mit. Damit ist er bei anspruchsvollen Wintertouren immer mit dabei, frei nach dem Motto: lieber 100 mal zu oft mitgenommen, als einmal zu wenig!

I love this tiny little axe. It weighs nothing and I barely notice it on my pack. I've used it for self arresting and it gets the job done. It's not very long, so don't count on it for a walking stick like some axes. I certainly appreciate how small and nimble it is. I can get it right where I want it. And it just accents my bag perfectly. I paired it with the Petzl TrigRest and I'm most certain that all of my mountaineering needs will be met with this tiny little axe. My only complaints are: I would say the nose of the pick is a bit short. If the nose pick were longer, you could pick deeper. And the shovel side of the axe is open with metal cut out to save weight. This makes it more time consuming to shovel something out, as snow seems to go right through the shovel. However, I really like this little axe. It saves weight and gets the job done. Very well done Petzl!

Weight is critical when ski touring, this item fits the bill well. Been out many days last winter and works very well, yes there times when walking with it that it would have been more comfortable if slightly longer. It held my weight well when having to climb on rock and snow. Being small and light means it is an easy decision to take on marginal requirement days. No unexpected signs of wear or damage. Works well for me but as a pure climbing axe probably a little on the small size.
