This is a Riley two piece full size cue with metal thread join. The base section of the shaft follows the American Pool styling - largely black with attractive silver and blue stylings. There is a 'grip section' that's wrapped in linen, presumably for a firmer grip. The tip has been pre-cut with a domed shape that gives a good contact with the ball.Riley is a well respected name in snooker tables and cues and this is well manufactured (albeit in China). This cue also follows American Pool leanings in being manufactured from maple wood rather than the more common ash for snooker cues. The cue has a nice weight and the length is about average for a full size cue. The base section is varnished but the top is smooth wood and slides nicely through the bridge hand.If you are looking for a cue to use at home then take note of the size and make sure there is enough clearance from the table cushions to walls. Or any ornaments that you're especially fond of!While we're on the subject of length, I'm 6 feet 2 and found that my natural grip on the cue was near the base, i.e. not on the linen 'grip' section. I do the same with my other cues which are the same length but worth noting if you're tall and hoping that the linen grip will improve your game.A metal thread is fine but supposedly a wooden join is preferable. I have two snooker cues, one with a wood thread and I do find the metal one has a bit more wobble and is more likely to loosen during play. Just an observation not a huge issue but then this is an expensive cue and more likely to appeal to those who take the game seriously. You do get thread protectors that screw in/on respectively for protection during storage, which is a nice touch.Talking of storage, there is a case included with the cue and it's probably the nicest I've ever seen. I've played snooker for more than 40 years and have only ever had soft cases or the boxy square hard ones. This one is solid for protection but with rounded edges and sized perfectly for the two halves in separate compartments. There's also an external and removable zipped pouch for chalk and probably a wallet as well. It's a great case.At first glance this might seem expensive for a cue, but I bought my favourite snooker cue 40 years ago and paid around the same price. Factor in that you're getting a really good case in the package and this seems like a good deal for the more serious pool (or snooker) player.I've never used a maple cue before and comparing it to my ash snooker cues in play, there is a very slight difference in feel when you strike the cue ball. I only noticed this when hitting the ball from one end of the full size table to the other, and it's only very slight, but ash feels 'softer' as if it's absorbing some of the vibration from the impact. It's not bad, just different.

This is a really good cue that's probably worth the outlay.Well made with good balance, it's nice to hold and feels "just right". It comes in two parts with threads protected for transport and fits nicely in the carry case. There's a removeable zippered pouch in the outside of the case for chalk, spare tips, etc.Has a nice grip and detail, looks every bit as nice as it feels to use.

The build quality on this cue is fantastic. I love the wrapped maple shaft. It certainly feels unique and I've not seen that before on a cue. It looks absolutely stunning and comes with protection for the connecting screws when it's disassembled. The carry bag is great and is perfectly shaped for both halves as well as having a separate pouch for chalk etcReally beautiful American pool cue with a good weight (listed on shaft) would definitely recommend.

This is a fantastic offering from Riley that is a joy to play with. It's a split cue that screws together and comes with Riley branded joint protectors. Once assembled it's straight and true and perfectly balanced. It's lovely in the hand and glides smoothly without snagging .The linen wrapped grip section provides good grip and also looks great adding the premium feel of the cue.It comes with a lightweight yet durable carry case that is perfect for storage and transport and provides excellent protection for the cue. There is also a small zippered accessory bag attached to this that is perfect for storing accessories.Overall this is a fantastic cue with a premium look and feel. You won't be dissapointed - happy to reccomend!
