This Crusader bearing the standard is decked out in a Germanic great helm with wings & with a serious combination of chain & plate mail! His winged helmet & armor suggest he is from the Teutonic order of knights & his standard is not just for show as the flag is mounted on a sturdy lance. He also carry's a broad sword & heavy dagger by his side! He is mounted on a sturdy & attractive war horse that is equally detailed from its iron shod shoes to its riveted golden bridle. As with all Schleich sculptures this Crusader is highly detailed & beautifully hand painted. I have read in one review that there are six Crusader's & six Saracen's but I have only found five of each group. The Crusader's can fit in well with the Fleur Di Lis & Lion Coat of Arms camps as soldiers returning from the Crusades to help defend the royal family. And the Saracen's could work well as hired mercenary's. Since posting this I have seen a sixth Saracen figure, a beautifully crafted foot soldier with shield & sword unfortunately I did not have access to purchasing the figure I would love to see the sixth Christian Crusader & have a shot at completing the retired run of figures. But I am happy to have added this fierce Germanic Crusader to my collection & as this run is retired you might want to snatch him up quickly as they are already gaining in value.

Der Fahnenträger der Kreuzritter erinnert sehr stark an das Bild "der Tannhäuser" im Codex Mannesse, jenem berühmten Buch aus derm Hochmittelalter, mit den heute lustig wirkenden Bildern.Für mich ist er der beeindruckenste Ritter von Schleich, da sein schwarzes Pferd hervorragend mit seinem weißen Waffenrock und dem Schild harmonieren. Durch die Fahne wird dieser Eindruck noch verstärkt. Die goldenenund schwarzen Einzelteile runden das Gesamtbild ab.Neben der Lanze, an der die Fahne befestigt ist, ist der Ritter mit einem Langschwert und einem Dolch bewaffnet, beide sind mit Ketten an seinem Gürtel befestigt, für den Fall, dass er sie im Kampf aus der Hand geschlagen bekommt. Dieses wenig bekannte Detail berreichert die Figur.Leider hat Schleich zum Ende 2009 alle Kreuzritter aus dem Programm genommen, man sollte sich also beeilen, wenn man ihn haben will.
