Being made from wood which can vary I'd say that my one may not be representative of the entire product.Firstly, the base of the handle wasn't finished well and clearly broke off before the lathe has finished turning it - there was a small step which wore away while I was banging it into the handle.It also seemed to have a slight bend to one side possible on account as the wood wasn't of even density and it might not have been fully dried out in the kiln.The head was incredibly awkward to shape to fit as it was harder on one side than the other, so easier to cut away on the softer side and risk having the head not fitting evenly. This was a nightmare to cut properly though I would add that I didn't have the best of tools at the time.I managed to reuse the wedges from the previous handle having drilled them out, but new ones might also have been a good idea.In conclusion, I should have bought a cheap new one from Screwfix as I later found out later that they had them on offer at the time for barely more than the handle and wedges and no hassle other than collecting it.In hindsight I should have returned this one as it was clearly not a good example of what it should have been - but it's fitted now.Good luck with yours if you go down this route.

had an old sledgehammer laying around with a broken shaft just never got round to fixing it. Well got a small job to do and need the hammer so go this cheaper shaft as once job is done will not need the hammer for a while. A bit tight going in to hammer head but with the wedges and the tight fit it will not come flying off and do someone an injuy. The shaft lis not hickory and looks cheap bu i have hammered in forty plus fence posts and there is no sign of damage or weakness. Ideal for small jobs. If you want to use on large jobs then i would suggest you buy hickory or fibershaft.Did you know that in Mississippi USA...You can be fined up to 100$ for using profanity in a public place.
