I bought this to compliment my SmallRig Magic FIZ focus motor kit.Its easily compatible and works as good as the original motor in my first kit, allowing me to pull iris/zoom as well as focus at the same time for some crazy shots.Built super well and mounts nice and tight to the rod with the built in clamp. Feels solid and metal.Exactly what I expect and love from SmallRig.

This product is the wireless receiver/motor module only. It does NOT work as a standalone. It also does not feature a internal battery and must thus be powered with an external power bank such as a V-mount battery or a separate power bank. That said, in order to test this product out I bought myself the SmallRig MagicFIZ wireless handwheel controller. I've been meaning to try a remote focus so this was a perfect opportunity. The first thing I will say is that the documentation for how the two product should pair together, and what the different controls and features do is extremely sparse and incomplete. The problem is that there are two main controller modules and while both work, if you get the one that isn't shown in the manual then you will have to extrapolate all the controls on your own. And even the manual on the controller itself it is rather incomplete to say the least. To this day there are still features that I am unsure how to work properly.Once you get the things to pair and connect properly, it very responsive! There is a small lag that can be expected but the motor will behave as expected. Quick twists on the controller isn't recommended though, as the response isn't fully linear so you twisting from point A to B quickly and back can result in ending up somewhere that isn't quite the focus point of point A. In that respect, compared to a manual flywheel this is where this device combo wouldn't work as well.Another area where this motor doesn't work as well is in terms of the torque. Yes, this is the Lite version and I have not had hands on with the normal version to know if it works better in this respect. While the torque is perfectly adequate for a lens that has a smooth focusing ring, which is of course ideal, if you like to adapt vintage lenses that are not rehoused or properly and fully CLA'd, you can run into problems. A lot of my lenses for instance unfortunately may have slight stiffness at some areas of the focus throw and despite most of them not requiring much effort with my hands to twist, the motor senses a unevenness in the required torque and can interpret it as the end of the focus throw of the lens. In other words, it gives up pretty quickly. So this motor will not be a suitable to be paired with just any vintage lens; it has to really be in top condition with regards to the smoothness of its focus ring. For a lens that is smooth, this motor does work quite well. Used with careful and slower focus throws you can achieve very precise control over your focus plane, which is awesome.

Works as intended, giving precise control with little to no latency observed. Build quality feels excellent. I haven't had any compatibility issues yet. So far so good!
